Max isn’t that good but he at least tries. Ham has bias towards Reddish because he remembers him from Bucks vs Hawks. Prince is okay, even if he shouldn’t start, but Reddish has one foot out the league door. He hasn’t redeemed himself at all. He doesn’t belong on an NBA court anymore.

Max has his ups and downs but he is exactly the kind of long-armed athletic 3-and-D guy you should be playing consistently over the course of the regular season so he learns from his mistakes and is ready by season’s end. With his shooting, wingspan, and age, he had a ton of potential to be a regular contributor. Instead Ham fed all his minutes to a guy with no upside who should be out of the league.

Max at this point should have been in the rotation long enough to make his mistakes from the beginning. Why he’s just getting sporadic minutes is just stunting his growth. It’s frustrating to watch as you think Max has to play PERFECT on the floor to not get pulled by Ham.

At this point the only explanation I can think is happening is that they are intentionally keeping Max’s minutes low so he doesn’t show out much and make it harder for them to keep him next year. If he turned into a good 3 and D guard, someone would chuck him a 10 mil a year contract, and the Lakers cannot afford that.
At the same time, they want Cam to show out more so someone offers him more minutes or a bigger contract, otherwise he takes his PO and comes back to the Lakers next season.
