What people never get is the crowd was fixated on the scuffle on the court, they NEVER saw the drink hit Artest. What the crowd did see was Artest running into the stands to whale on a fan. So from the crowd's perspective Artest just went crazy. Then Jackson hit a fan. So all the fans in the Palace, except the dummy that threw the drink, are thinking that the Pacers without provocation were just whaling on the fans. That's why they were booing and throwing crap at the Pacers.
Silver should retroactively give this man his money back ๐ footage doesn't lie
It's crazy, when you speed the video up 2x, Dan talks in a normal speed.
The Pacers that year would've been special if the league hadn't SCREWED them over ๐คฆ๐พโโ๏ธ
This is Le Batard content at his best.
Isaiah Thomas is still pissed that he saved Stephen Jackson's career after this incident and he still laughed along while Charles Oakley made fun of him
Crazy how none of them ever tried to actually get at ben wallace, just the fans
Stak has an incredible lead hook. I know thatโs not the point of this but, as a former fighter, itโs impressive. Plus, dude had it coming.
I got lucky seeing this live. I had just gotten home, turned the tv on, I just happened to have it on ESPN by sheer luck, and things just started to escalate. I remember all of the discussions afterwards in regards to Stephen Jackson and at the time they weren't good. Then Grantland did a story on it and when I read what was going through his mind I understood because I was raised the same way and would have done, and have done, the same thing. You're not sure what exactly happened but when one of your boys is in the middle of something, you just charge in to help him out and worry about the consequences later. You'd rather be punished later than not come to the aid of one of your boys, even if he is wrong. I know for some people it's hard to understand, not even saying anyone is wrong for thinking differently, I just know some of us it's absolutely drilled into us from birth you don't leave your own behind so you just act. I respected that about Jackson and understood why his former teammates liked him so much.
Footage doesn't lie…you can't go into the crowd and deck someone even if they throw a beer at your teammate. That's insane lol
Quality guy right there.
The sliding M Bison punch Jermaine OโNeal put on that fan was so clean. 100% deserved the smoke he got being the idiot who actually walked on the court looking for a fight
I watched this live. I was all Artest and still am. Somebody hits me with a beer, fists are flying.
Jax is a con-man. Sad that I'm not surprised Dan has been taken in by him.
This should be trending
I was at this game, nowhere close to that section tho, I was on the other side about halfway up the lower section almost straight across from it. It was an insane atmosphere that night. That game and when we beat LA for the championship were the wildest live events i have ever been to
Beer throwing chump got 2 pieced
Jax telling his side of story and dude throwing beer right in front of him really does make it 100% justified. Canโt be up there witness buddy throw beer and not do anything.
Go on the table per your therapist in the middle of the game. Please.
The Art of Telestration
That HIMS script has Dan's hair looking full …
Never forget that this man checked in with children
Lol if that game was in downtown Detroit, this wouldn't have happened. They definitely wouldn't have went into the stands. Then Ron should've went into locker room instead of laying on the table. He started it.
Only a small mind could still be mad 20 years later.
If J.ONeal doesn't slip that fans head would still be orbiting the globe.
Haven't seen Dan in awhile. Looks so much like Lebo… much โค
One of the most important parts that people don't mention is that they weren't playing in Detroit; rather, Auburn Hills, a Detroit suburb. Stack has said before that if they were playing in Detroit, it would've been worse!!!!
The therapist may indeed have told Ron to "get away" from the situation, but laying down on the scorers table after that hard foul on Ben, absolutely was seen as some trolling taunt by a lot of people. Had he sat down normally, the % of this happening would have decreased.
Studio gangster
0:59 Actually, Ben Wallace lost his brother – not his parents. It was mentioned before that game, and on the documentary about the Malice
lol street cred, imagine being 45 and having to check in with a 12 yr old in o block. fuckin bum
He still wants to beat up Whites…
I watched that live. Those fans were out of line.
Hey dudes, let's wait and go get those N H L (enforcers) players that just beat the living $hit out of our beloved Red Wings.
Um, that's a hard pass. (For some strange reason)
Artest picked the one that looked most like his therapist. Skinny & pencil necked
Stak is a clown Matt Barnes as welll. Always picking & choosing who to shoot at. Keep that Rachel Nichols energy fam๐
I taught Steve in high school. He is completely an upstanding young man and he will always have my upmost respect.
I can never think about this without thinking about the escalating levels of tensions. ๐
I remember watching this game live getting ready to go to the club that night
"Forced?"
Ben Wallace brother choked him up, he didn't mention that, he a buster
Stephen Jackson is a clown
So let me get this straight this giant your size push you and you practice self control but when the soda hits you by lil ol Danny you leap three floors to get him ๐๐
YT people not gone learn until you give them that act right!! Stack did nothing wrong! Ron arrest did nothing wrong it has to be consequences if you do some shit like throw a bear at a player! If that was in the street no YT person would dare try no shit like that because they know they would get they ass beat!!
An analogue clock on the wall can be right twice a day, other than this, he and Matt need to grow the #### up.
As mad as it can make you, you can't go into the stands after fans. Everyone knows this. This has nothing to do with color and I wish Stephen would just stick to his narrative that he was just helping his teammate instead of making it racial.
S50 ko homeboi ๐
Rasheed a real one
He might very well be right about everything he is saying. Heโs still just not a likable guy
I love Dan doing interviews. I wish wish wish his YouTube channel was better. 10 min or less videos with his opinions or interviews.
