They are individual awards and we should take them for what they are, otherwise we need to change the wording.
DPOY is the best defensive player, not the team, not any highly complex metrics that only robots understand, but individual defensive capabilities.

The Spurs are a top 5 defensive team with Victor on the floor and probably the worst team in the league on both sides of the ball with him on the bench.
