[Lewenberg] Keep the pick or lose the pick? The Raptors say they don’t have a strong preference and are happy to let the lottery balls decide; there are pros and cons either way.

I’m kinda in the same mind set. This draft is so underwhelming that I’m not really excited by anyone. But a top 6 pick is nice so I don’t really mind it either. Either way I won’t be losing sleep

I agree with this.
Either way is plays out seems reasonable. The protections on the pick are doing their job a 35ish% chance of top 4 pick worth keeping in this draft. 55ish% chance the pick conveys at 7 in a weak draft.
Will still have a 1st with Pacers pick likely at around 18ish and the Detroit 2nd. So can still gamble on finding the gems in the weak/random draft class.

I would way rather it convey this year.
Pretty much zero chance we actively tank like this again next season, so its not like we’ll be in a position to get a better prospect. A later pick next year and a higher pick this year are roughly equivalent, so I would way rather start the process now than lose and wait another year

I’d much rather have talent that more closely aligns with Barnes timeline, but a year is whatever. At least the level of talent in the 9-14 range that the Raps will probably be in next year seems roughly in the same ballpark as the top 6 talents this draft 😬

Meh either way is fine we have the Pacers and Detroits second for some influx of talent.
I don’t really want to lose the pick next year with a strong class and I don’t see us being bad enough with the current roster to be in the lottery again.

The Raptors don’t have a preference but their blatant tanking says otherwise.

I hey are happy to let the lottery balls decide becuase the reality is the lottery balls, decide but I’m sure they have a pretence to have keep the pick this year.
The pros our weight the cons especially if it’s number one than to lose it.
