They are currently at 7th with 2,481 assists. That is one behind the 6th place 1983-84 Denver Nuggets and 19 behind the current 4th place team, the 1978-79 Phoenix Suns. They would need 39 assists to best the 3rd place 1982-83 Lakers which is possible but that would be tough. You can follow along here.

They also should become the first team in NBA history to score 10,000 points and have 2,500 assists in a season.
In case you are wondering, they should end the season with the 7th highest ppg average in NBA history. They would become the only team in the last 40 years to be in the top 20 of that list. Last year’s Kings team at 21.
