Play-in predictions for Steph Curry’s Warriors & LeBron James’ Lakers | Hoops Tonight x Nerd Sesh

Jason Timpf is joined by the guys over at @Nerd_Sesh to discuss the Western Conference play-in games. As it currently stands, Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns, LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers, Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors, and De’Aaron Fox and the Sacramento Kings would all be fighting it out for the last two spots. How do you think the bottom of the West shapes out?

  1. Have u guys seen the last 15 games of warriors, sun, and lakers? No way u picking Suns, cause they soft. 😂 U trust Booker to be good in must win game? Or KD being bodied? Or Beal being healthy? 😅😅😅

  2. Y'all writing off the Warriors. You don't know ball. Suns and Kings have been mediocre. Suns have no defence and Kings lack personnel to beat out these teams. Pels are solid but are beatable. Warriors beat the Lakers 3-1 in the regular season. THERE WAS NO MENTION OF THIS IN YOUR "ANALYSIS". The one game they lost was 145-144. A one point loss. Steph hit a big 3 to take the lead. If Dray doesn't foul his daddy Bron and Bron bricks the finish instead then the Warriors sweep them. You also have to factor in psychological factors. Warrors lost to Lakers last year in the playoffs. You better believe they are coming for the Lakers head this season.

Statistically speaking since the all star break Warriors have had the 3rd best defensive rating and 7th best offensive rating. They have looked significantly better since the refs finally decided to swallow their whistle a bit more. Lakers rely heavily on the refs to win games, Warriors don't, so with the refs swallowing their whistle more, that clearly favours the Warrors. Y'all keep talking about Lakers size or how AD is too much for the Warriors to handle and yet who do they have to guard Steph? They use Reaves LOL! That's BBQ chicken! Also Lakers have size but they don't really have good outside shooting. DLo might be their best shooter but other than that I'm not that worried.

What I predict will happen is that Warriors beat the Pelicans not only today but also in the play in and steal the 7th seed going into the playoffs. Then they face either an inexperienced Minnesotta or OKC. If that's the case I predict the Warriors make the second round of the playoffs at the very least.

  3. It’s truly surprising the Lakers haven’t gone 82-0 for the last three years in a row listening to these guys.

  4. Omg this video actually made me nauseous. Good god stuck in the lakers dm with a hello beautiful everyday haha

  5. If you need play in to get to play off. It should count as missing play off in your resume when somebody ranks you in any lists. Adam silver came in clutch for lebum james

  6. Mailbag: any thoughts on lebrons various comments on his podcast re: 2011 finals and 2009 ecf and if you think he was cappin'?

  7. If Klay gets off, GSW wins that game. If Curry plays well they are competitive. Its Wiggins that would be the difference maker for GSW.

  8. I love the lakers but I'm pretty sure nobody beating the nuggets there too much talent and cohesion in the flow I mean look gordon the prototype pf porter jr prototype sf kcp prototype sg and 2 bigtime players they execute when the game is in the balance they are sharp

  9. Jason said he doesn’t think the Pelicans are “particularly good”, but all the teams below them, outside of Sacramento, are contenders. So, the Pelicans won last night. Convincingly, too. I think Jason is just more hopeful for the Pelicans to be “not particularly good.”

  10. All of these teams are 45+ win teams and would have been 4th seeds in the West last year. It'll be a dogfight of a play-in and playoffs. Expect upsets. The gap between rhe teams is small.
