How a faulty clock in Memphis ruin the post-season placement of GSW

The yesterday’s game at Memphis that the Lakers won had a clock error close to the end of the third quarter and the teams literally played an extra minute (so the quarter lasted for 13 minutes).

In fact, during the third quarter, the clock was reversed from 1:14 to 2:20 while there was no reason for this to happen!
The play by play was also massively wrong during that time. As an example, it shows Russell dishing an assist, although according to the same play by play he was benched when that action took place. Same for some Memphis plays that happened around that time.
In the end, the incorrect/mixed events come from the fact that there was one minute that was duplicated since the clock was reversed.

Of course this situation changed the final score and since it was a very close game, somebody can even question who should be the real winner. Had the Lakers lost that game, then the GSW would have had some better chances to catch them in the standings. That’s how this faulty clock in Memphis may ruin GSW’s season.

PS: Since I can’t post any images or video together with the text, you can find more evidence on [this tweet](https://twitter.com/3StepsBasket/status/1779239672402546987) (or please watch the 3rd quarter of that game).

  1. This is wild! How does a game clock get reversed from 1:14 to 2:20?? As in, viewing it in the most charitable light possible, logistically what are the circumstances/conditions under which something like that could accidentally happen?

Wow that’s actually insane. Did they actually play an extra minute of game time or could the issue have been fixed later in the game? That is huge fuck up if the game actually had an extra minute. But it’s important to know this because broadcasts often make mistakes

I think you can see technically what happens here. The shot clock is at 22sec and then the game clock goes to exactly 2:20. So possibly a “misinput” by the scorers or a technical glitch?

How can this happen? No one noticed? This made me think of how the clocks went out when we played the Lakers a while back. I know that was in LA and last night was Memphis, but where is the NBA’s quality control? I’m guessing they’ve got Creed Bratton on the issue, huh?

The warriors not winning a bunch of games they were up big is probably more of a reason for their post-season placement.

Huh? They squandered a lot of games they should have WON earlier in the regular season. Wasted long write up there.

  6. Yes, the game clock in a LAL MEM game is the reason the Warriors are the 10th seed.. JFC lol

    > this faulty clock in Memphis may ruin GSW’s season

TIL a faulty clock in Memphis is apparently Draymond getting suspended 25 games, Wiggins and Klay no-showing the first month or two, Looney being out of shape to start the year, Kerr still not knowing how to foul when up 3 at the end of a game, and in general, the vets getting outplayed in crunch time

It was 2-2 during the extra minute played, stop bitching. Literally didn’t affect the outcome of the game at all and both teams had to play the extra minute

NBA rigging another game for LeRoids and the lakers, shocking?🫢 😮 Guess it wasn’t enough the refs once again gave the Lakers 30+ (34) FTs in a game, now the need help from the clock operator.

I probably wouldn’t care as much if Steph doesn’t get crushed by multiple defenders driving to the hole or Dray is not getting elbows dropped on the done/jaw that never get fucking called. However, look at a laker wrong and it’s a foul while the refs check replay to see if its a F1 cuz LeFlop acts like he’s been hit by a sniper riffle on each play.

Didn’t the same thing happen with gsw in a win vs lal like a month ago!? It’s like a missed call… they’re gonna make it up for the other team somehow.
