Tim Duncan and Robinson vibes???

  1. He’s my top prospect in the class but I don’t want him. If we learned one thing this season it should be Wemby is way better at the 5 next to shooters and perimeter players rather than a big man who can’t shoot

  2. Then-Activity7226

It’s a questionable fit because if he doesn’t develop a reliable outside shot there’s probably no way he can pair with Wemby. Wemby also plays better at the 5 and Sarr is more of a 5 now than a 4 too. He might be the best prospect in this class though, but he’s also probably the worst fit for this team. If we draft him, we’re gambling that he can play the 4 full time in the future and have an outside shot that’s reliable.

  3. As promising as Sarr looks, he’s basically the exact kind of player that we DONT need right now. I think he’d do well on the hornets with their current roster needs. We need a quick defensive wing like Castle or Buzelis who can’t keep up with some of these guards who have been torching us all season, and/or we need an elite shooter like Dillingham or Sheppard to add spacing and bring away these double-teams on wemby that have been getting crazier and crazier as the season’s progressed.

  4. I’ve been saying it for a minute, but I think Sarr is the best prospect in this draft, and he’s shown flashes of perimeter skills on both ends that make me think he can play as a 4 the same way Mobley, JJJ and Rob Will have have been able to.

The problem everyone is rightfully going to bring up is the position/fit question marks, but I think it’s virtually impossible to get worse from a team building stand point around Wemby than what we saw the first half of this season. We’ve seen at the bare minimum just have a pg and 2 shooters on the floor and we’ll at worst be a functional basketball team.

Sarr legitimately might be the 2nd most mobile and functionality athletic 7 footer on the planet behind Giannis. He is not only a good defender, he is a versatile one that understands angles, was viable in different types of coverages, and was an impactful defender in a pro league. He’ll survive as a finisher in this league, and has some touch and IQ things that give me hope of him being passable on the perimeter like some of the guys I mentioned before.

Is his fit on this team perfect? No, but I think his fit in today’s nba is and that might just be more important. One last thing to not overlook is that he wouldn’t just be playing all his minutes next to Wemby. Defensive help in the 2nd unit, and/or replacing the Zach Collins minutes has become a real topic and Sarr would provide real value on those fronts as well.
