  1. Luka literally sat out last two games. What are you saying six game gap? Its like having a narrative and then trying to find ways to justify it. Its Luka and its not even close

  2. Luka was missing half his team for the first 2 months. If Jokic has the edge over Luka because of games won, you have to admit the MVP is a team award and not an individual award.

  3. The only chance Luka will have to win the MVP is if he can take the Mavs to at least the WCF this year (preferably finals) and then carry the Mavs to a top 3 finish next year and put up similar numbers. They'll be saying he got robbed this year and give him the MVP then.

  4. I'm of the mind that Luka is the MVP this season, Jokic should have gotten it last year. Luka has played better with a lot worse conditions. Luka has been the far most dominant, and teams have had to do much more to try and stop him than they do with any other player. I think it is likely Embiid would have won it if he wasn't injured this year.

The voters seem to vote with a system that doesn't reflect the objective reality, but use metrics such as smoothness and team standing without taking into account surrounding factors. I think it speaks volumes when people say "he has had the best individual season, buuuuuuut….", no that's not how it should work. Most valuable player should be based on his performance and what he does for his team on the court.

  5. To Legs’ point, Joker doesn’t just have his imprints on his team; he (and the Nuggets’ bold decision to build a team around a point center) has impacted the entire league and every level of basketball, now that Joker and the Nuggs have proved the model works.

And not only does the model work but, until a non-big man focused team beats the Nuggets, this model is superior and Joker and the Nuggets are The Best in the League!

Hats off to those who have had amazing seasons, but being improved doesn’t mean your impact is the greatest/most valuable or that you are the best! By every measure of impact not just raw numbers devoid of context, IT’S STILL JOKIĆ until someone outdoes him, not just comes close!

As my Greek homies say, “μολὼν λαβέ” … Come and take it! ⚔️🃏🏆

  6. The fact that so many people are saying it is Luka and it"s not even close shows you how ridiculous
some peoples mindsets are. Of course even if Luka is more deserving it's close. What games are you
people watching? Jokic won as a 6th seed because he wasn't competing against Jokic.

  7. Doncic had the best "box score". Jokic had literally every other stat, advanced/efficiency/winning/seed/clutch/floor raising/defense/ast:to/stocks etc etc. Put Jokic at 38mpg&38% usage = 30/15/11 per game.

  8. Basically Jokic can win as a sixth seed because he is Jokic, but Luka can't because he is not Jokic and Jokic still exists so therefore we still need to give it Jokic.

  9. I think Joker gettin this MVP is a combo of another historic season, gettin screwed last year and then dominating in the playoffs, truly historical dominance and a nod to just how consistent he’s been for the last 5 years…Right or wrong, I think that’s the way it is.

  10. Luka is the real MVP this season. His best case are his numbers.
I cant believe media is arguing Jokic over Luka because of team wins gap of 7. Mavs are second in the east with 50 wins.
But even if that is a real argument why nobody says nothing about the real gap of Celtics over the 2nd in the East of 14 WINS and 7 over the best in the West because based on the argument logic Tatum should be the MVP without a doubt and maybe we can define MVP = Best player on the best NBA team from so on.
The last season Embid just win it because Jokic already has 2 and people say that 3 maybe will be to much but this year it seems that everybody forgot that. #LD77MVP

  11. “Idk what more Luka can do”

Maybe win like Jokic.. actually lead a dominate team and not just put up good numbers because the ball is in your hands 99% of the time.

Nobody is scared of the Mavericks.
Everybody is scared of the Nuggets.

You can argue Luka has more help as well, considering he has a multiple time champion to be his bat man. Jokic has NEVER had played with another All-Star that wasn’t 5 years past his prime.

This is all I need to know to know who the real GOAT of todays league is.

  12. Am I the only one who thinks Embiid skated on the physicality amping up after the all star break? Everyone goes on about Embiid scoring a point a minute but it was measurable how many less foul shots guys got during the period Embiid was out.. the last few weeks the fouls have crept up again and scores have gone up with teams scoring in the 130's and 140's again… right around the time Embiid came back.

  13. So because the Mavericks sat, Luca and Kyrie, and six other players, Luca doesn’t win the MVP. That’s your fucking argument.

  14. Wtf you mean “6 game difference.” He literally rested the last two games…. I swear the disrespect isn’t going to match the apologies later when Luka and the Mavs win it all 🎯

  15. Luka Dončić this season:…

BUT.. JOKER THE MVP CAUSE HIS TEAM WON 6 MORE GAMES

    • 34/9/10
    • 1st in points
    • 2nd in assists
    • 73 point game (4th highest ever)
    • First 33/9/9 season in NBA history
    • Most 30-PT TD’s since MVP Russ
    • 1st in 25-point games
    • 1st in 35-point games
    • 1st in 40-point games
    • 1st in 45-point games
    • 2nd in 3’s made
    • Top 10 in steals
    • 61.7% TS

    • Mavs 50+ wins
    • Mavs 1st in clutch win%
    • 6th best record in entire NBA

    — One of the greatest seasons of all time. He is the MVP.

  16. WILD….U SAYIN HE HAS THE BEST SEASON….BUT PUTTIN HIM DOWN FOR 6 GAMES…
WITH KYRIE MISSIN OVER 20 OF EM…….MAKES ZERO SENSE

  17. 6 or 7 wins shouldn’t matter when Luka has had a historic season. What a shame it is to say 52.7 combined points rebounds and assist only behind Wilt is not MVP worth as a top 6 team record in the NBA. What a joke these “experts” are so out of touch!

  18. too much love for jokic men so luka can't win when hes 5th seed and jokic first mvp is hes in 6th seed pathetic voters pathetic analyst they dont want another white dude dominating their game this is not team stats this is individual stats

  19. Tatum is nowhere near the top of the Most Valuable Player list in regards to how important he is to his team. Sorry to say that out loud but it’s true.

  20. Jokic
    Luka

    Shai

    Giannis
    Brunson
    Ant
    Steph

That would be my tier breakdown of guys who I feel are absolutely necessary to their team’s success. Hence MVP

  21. You can throw out the 7 more wins for all I care, I would still pick Jokic and believe the voters will, too.
You can throw out the "narrative" and "media bias" as well. Jokic has never benefited from these things.
I watched almost every single Nuggets, Mavs, and OKC game this season (not just since the NFL season ended), and without having to resort to anything except the eye test, my top 3 would be

    Jokic
    SGA
    Doncic
