While i don’t think Podz is a great defender because he lacks the physical tools to be a great on-ball defender, I think people underrate his off-ball defense. If you watch his rotations on defense, he takes away so many passes and passing lanes per possession. Its a lot of fun to watch imo

Podz is not a top 5 defender but he is good for a rookie guard. He over helps at times, allowing an open 3. It is interesting to see that some Warriors fans think he sucks or is mediocre. Some even claim he sucks at shooting despite a very respectable 3 point percentage for a rookie. The warriors success attracted a lot of fans with no knowledge of the game, which is why we get ragged on by other fanbases.

This clinches it for me that Perk is a complete idiot and knows nothing about basketball. I got mad luv for Podz and think he had a heck of a great rook year. I luv his effort on offensive rebounds and his hustle back on defense when the Dubs make a bobe head turnover.
However, just cuz Podz got a bunch of charges doesn’t make him qualified for all defensive 2nd team or should be considered a good defender at this point. Typically when he’s not out of position or hunting for a rebounds and he’ll leave someone wide open for a 3, his opponent will side step him and score or he’ll get the blocking foul.
This doesn’t mean he can’t become a good to great defender with more playing time but he’s still got lots to learn on the defensive side of the ball.
