I’m indifferent towards Darko at the moment. It’s hard to judge a coach based on this season so I give him a grade of incomplete. Next year we will have an accurate assessment.
But is it just me or does he always give off a vibe like the anxious guy at work that thinks he’s going to be fired soon…

Paraphrased notes:
>we have players that like each other, talented, bright future
>They want to put a lot of work in
>mentions Phil jackson for some reason (good though)
>see how people learn, react to those situations
>stick together, clear path in the future
>he mentions for his career he’s only had one losing season before in his previous roles, ability to keep the big picture in mind, mentions it’s not easy to lose
>(in response to scottie questioned as a leader) Darko mentions “night and day” compared to the start of the season, mentions that they’ve been building a lot towards that leadership
>Also mentions scottie asking about coverages etc from the sideline
>[question about temple’s importance to the team] mentions his competitiveness in practice, convos etc
>natural step in Scottie playing more on the ball, mentions scottie brings up defense he wants to be a DPOY, mentions putting him on the other team’s best offensive player as a possibility
>[asked about Gradey] Mentions that Gradey needs to fill out his body, get stronger, to more physical defensively
>[asked about tactical changes around the NBA] best teams in the league have skill, hard to guard the players, trying to be hard to handle 1 v 1 in those situations
>[asked about Gary Trent] “The best spot up shooter in the league” his numbers did dip down but his overall game improved as the season goes on hard worker, shows up he was a very important voice, quiet early, loud later. Mentions him working out with Gradey
>[asked about his offensive systems] trying to simplify, what works best with the guys etc, unselfishness, move the ball etc can build on, develop off ball game etc
>[asked about what this team needs] they need great players, mentions flexibility, picks. Says they need size/skill/maybe backup PG
>[asked about being competitive] entered the rebuild process over the season, not easy, turns the corner too quickly, it’s a process, understand a ton of work to be done, tons of patience
>[asked about offseason stuff for the players] mentions staying active but don’t have to always be basketball focused
>mentions the coaching staff will be meeting with the players in the offseason at their homes
>[asked about RJ’s increasing efficiency] RJ can touch the paint whenever he wants
>[asked about generational difference] getting the guys comfortable with each other, common interests, easier to connect
>Never had a chance to see Poeltl/Ochai together
>Felt it was easier to establish the identity offensively than defensively, mentions defense a focus for the players in the offseason
