Will the Lakers be a tougher matchup for the Nuggets this year? | ALL NBA Podcast

The Lakers have advanced to face the Denver Nuggets in the playoffs, but the main news is that Zion Williamson limped off the court with an injury after scoring 40 points, and Brandon Ingram’s body language suggested he may be struggling. The upcoming Western Conference Finals will be a rematch of the 2022-23 season. If we consider Denver’s 3-0 record against the Los Angeles Lakers during the regular season, we might expect another 4-0 sweep by the Nuggets over the Lakers in this year’s opening round.

  1. First game I think Jockic and Malone are going to figure out the lakers and Deangelo’s game and crush them in the next 7 games

  2. Lakers can definitely beat Nuggets if they are healthy. Jeff Green and Bruce Brown were HUGE for that Nuggets run last year…. Will be very interesting

  3. In every game Lakers have played against the Nuggets this year they have had motivation to try and destroy Denver. Game 1 revenge for WC finals sweep and ruin Denver’s Banner night. 2nd game was Kobe night…3rd game LBJ 40k Career points. All attempts they came up lame. Why will this series be any different? Malone is the superior coach and Jokić is the best player. Denver has the best supporting cast.

  4. I think biggest factor in the Lakers series are the refs, Jokic on the floor= Nuggets win, Jokic in foul trouble = Nuggets lose…

  5. I like your take on "it is better for Lakers to face Denver early in the playoffs". Seriously, why is Denver supposed to play worse in the first round? It's the same team and they are fully healthy. They are talking like Jokic picks games in playoffs to go off. He averaged 30 point TD (0.5 assist less). He played super dominant in all 20 games last year.

  6. Jokic absolutely owns AD. That's one of their biggest problems. The Lakers do have the 6th man on the court though. If the refs stay focused, the Lakers have a shot. It would be smart for AD to go at Jokic because that would give their 6th man chances to get Jokic in foul trouble.

  7. Think Nuggs need to be very focused and win those first two home games. Lakers going to be well rested for a change and will look to surprise in one of those first two. When the Nuggets are confident, they can sleepwalk through games (eg game 81 vs SA) and just assume they can turn it on in the last 10 mins to pull out the win. That could backfire.

  8. Not a Warriors fan in the slightest, but I wish they would've blown that team up after that last championship. It sucks to have to watch such a historically dominant team deteriorate like this.

  9. You guys gotta do your studies in taurean prince. Including the play in the Lakers are now 25-5 when prince plays less than 25 minutes. But has and has come very to costing them games in 20 minutes. He was a plus one last night. But there because they were rolling hard in the first half. But he runs out of scoring and he doesn't play defense. And in the second half he played ten minutes straight and the pelicans made a roaring comeback prince will cost them this series. Which in turn means darvin ham will cost them this series

  10. Idk. AD was absolute dominant coming into the West finals last year. Not sure how you could be more confident in him this year

  11. 2020 Lakers had multiple bigs to throw at Jokic to bother him a lot, including Dwight Howard and Javael McGee along with AD.

Most teams don’t have enough size to REALLY make AD work whilst forcing Bron to settle for jumpers.

The Nuggets do and they’re very smart.

The Timberwolves do but…they’re not that smart.

  12. @1:30 I think the spurs crowd is like this too… So much hype in that building… It's like an old wwf attitude era crowd

  13. In my view it made no difference who the Nuggets played in the first round. But I was pulling for the Pels simply because any match up with the Lakers is a circus and not a series. All bullsh-t all the time. All narrative all the time. All LeBron all the time. All Lakers all the time. The basketball is secondary. Even if the Nuggets again sweep the Lakers it will still be all those things. I was hoping to be spared all that horse crap. Oh well. You play who's in front of you.

  14. Lakers mistake is not adding a real big that can stand up to Jokic and not foul…if you can't single cover him without wearing AD down then you lose…Cousins could have helped bang and be an asset on offense…or find some other bigs that you can trust on the floor next to AD…weird they settled for this team…also vanderbilt not being around is tough as in the playoffs his defense on wings would have been more beneficial

  15. Pelicans need to deal Ingram while he has value…he is not going to help lead them anywhere or push Zion…to chill and emotional at the same time. CJ is a solid Vet, but is not a 3rd option at this point on a contender…
