The city cannot save downtown. Traffic already sucks there (I grew up there in the '60s and it was bad). If the Left that controls politics is smart, which they are not, then they would build a new arena between SA and Austin, leaving enough room to build a stadium for an NFL franchise. For decades, going back at least to the days of elitist Red McCombs, other elitists have dreamed of having an NFL team.
There will be absolutely no parking. Getting in and out of downtown is already a pain (and I live half a mile from there). But there will be more to do before and after games so area merchants will love it
The Spurs need to be in the heart of the city and not the boondocks. Good memories there but I hate where the current arena is located. There is literally nothing else around. It's Time to update for Wemby and future teammates. We Are Here We Coming… Go Spurs Go…
It's ALL good, for all the obvious reasons! Hope it goes through. The House That David Robinson Built was the Alamodome; next, The House That Tim Duncan Built is the AT&T Center (now called the Frost Bank Center since AT&T deserted San Antonio and moved their HQ to Dallas years ago). Now that we have another generational player, it is only fitting to "build a house" for him, and of course to make the location much better. Go Spurs Go!!
Just as long as parking is planned out. Parking near the Alamodome can be problematic.. and the proposed location is one of the overflow parking spots for the Alamodome. They really need a good parking plan if this is the location. Go Spurs Go! A new arena would be exciting.
This is the worst kept secret in San Antonio. This was put out into the ether as soon as the Spurs won the Lottery. Over the last year, there has been more and more talk about it. But the location news came out about a month ago. They would have to tear down the Institute of Texan Cultures to build it there. So even if it gets approved, Wemby will be well into his career before this thing opens. BTW: It's ironic because this location is blocks away from where the old Hemisfair Arena used to be. But when the Spurs moved out of there 30 years ago, the decided to build a new one on the East side of town where there is literally nothing but residential low income housing. And they had to get tax payer money to help pay for this with the promise that they would build up the area surrounding it. Of course, they never did. So all I can say is they better not try to raises taxes again for another arena.
Almost every NBA team that left its city has done so during or immediately after new arena negotiations. I don't know if the Spurs are moving or not, sometimes a new stadium is just that, but I don't think this is the guarantee to stay fans think it is.
Dang it. You're Spurs don't deserve another 1st rounder. They already beat most of us west coast teams this past year. Congrats bro, 2025 is looking really good for the Spurs! 👊
Born & Raised SA resident here! I’d love a downtown Arena, but they better construct some parking garages or embed a shuttle route since parking downtown has always been frustrating. It’s time for the future in Wemby’s era!

The area is on the other side of the highway where the Alamo dome is
Hi, Nuggets fan here. I can't believe we lost to y'all of all teams by one point!!

It’s a great thing! Need to be downtown and build an entertainment district.

Bro… Spurs are favored to acquire Stephen Curry via trade per Clutchpoints Article. This is crazy.😮

Spurs are never leaving San Antonio just like the Packers are never leaving Green Bay.
Yes sir they're moving back to the hemisfair area where they first played during the Iceman George Gervin days when they brought the team to the city.
Tired of driving to the east side. Shitty area and streets. Thank god we’re moving dt
The heart of San Antonio is downtown, the heart of San Antonio are the Spurs! Totally makes sense. Spurs would never move to Austin
