[Carlin] Kelly Oubre on playing at Madison Square Garden: “They call it the Mecca of basketball for a reason. The lights are super bright. They’re going to give celebrities those $100,000 free tickets just to be there and not care about the game, but that’s what they do.”

Kelly Oubre is the most handsome player in the game so I’d have to agree with his statement

This dude literally could have been a model, but he’s also really good at basketball. Some guys have all the luck.

  3. Emduck will have a 30ft game this series and oubre will still find a way to throw the game

  4. thy_armageddon

When he was in Arizona everybody on here used to talk about wanting his bussy so I’m glad to see that’s calmed down.

Let’s be real, there’s no reason why anyone should call it the mecca of basketball. Hasn’t been relevant in decades.

Except for maybe the Lakers, the Knicks have the most hardcore celebrity fans of any team. I’m sure there are a few dopes sitting on their phones all game but most of the on court celebs are there regularly and into it.

  7. Not-Josh-Hart

Fun fact: Philly would be the 2 seed and the Knicks the 7 seed had Philly won the season series 4-0, but they lost 1-3, so now Kelly can meet more celebrities!

That’s more Staples Center/Crypto.com Arena than MSG imho but sure…

knicks fans are just looking for anything to get mad about

  11. confuddly

honestly though this was true for Jessica Alba who came to MSG last year during the Heat series, I’m pretty sure she’s a Lakers fan

  12. Successful_Cup_1882

At least NY has people that want those free tickets. Who can’t remember the last relevant person from Philadelphia that wasn’t the midget.

We’re shit talking opponent cities now? We’re so back baby

I never understood why its the “mecca” though

Knicks haven’t been relevant for decades , and outside the 90s stint, that irrelevance goes back to the 70s – and the league has done nothing but grow exponentially , without NY playing a role

It can’t be media , location really doesn’t matter anymore in this era. Cable, internet – you can be accessible anywhere now.

If any place would be the “mecca” , wouldn’t it be LA?

Lakers have been consistently relevant and/or won

    They’ve got the star power

……idk, i don’t get it. Then again, i don’t understand why people keep saying the NBA needs the Knicks to be good. History of the last 40 years has proven , the NBA hasn’t needed them at all.

It’s probably true that MSG is more of a myth than anything else. Outside of the Cavs last year, nobody has wilted under the “bright lights” in NYC in more than a decade.

    Trae owned that building lol.

He ain’t saying that if James Gandolfini was still around. RIP 🤌

  17. filladelp

I heard that Tobias Harris not only gets free courtside seats – they’re *paying* him to show up!

  18. Reminder this the guy that sucker punches others in scuffles.

  19. nobraininmyoxygen

See Oubre agrees with Jarrett Allen about the bright lights
