AD absolutely outplayed Jokic in game 1.
The physicality he brought was completely different than last year. In g1 he was lowkey bullying Jokic, where it was reversed last year.
It really stings that D’Lo had such a dud and our braindead coach didn’t think to sub him for Gabe, who was more than capable of taking over smfh.

As much as I love Rui. Doesn’t anyone think Lakers should give Jaxon Hayes a shot at guarding Jokic? He’s the only reasonably sized big that can somewhat match Jokic. Idk if dummy Darvin will do it but let’s hope.

AD should take challenge of just defending Jokic. Pretty sure it will work that way. I am confident that Rui will do a good job of defending Gordon. However, you can understand why he is not guarding Jokic that much because he can get phantom calls which puts him in foul trouble. But, I look forward to see if AD will focus on Jokic because he got him a lot in Game 1.

Honestly part of AD and Lebron complementing each other so well is they don’t have many overlapping skills. When Ad is out Lebron CANNOT anchor your defense and guard the paint. When Lebron is gassed AD can’t be the creator on offense, he is a play finisher. If DLo is shooting 15% or whatever he shot in game 1 he can’t be a reliable creator given that they respect him less off the dribble and can hound him. AD is so much less effective if you’re asking him to catch the ball 20 feet out and try to go to work but without Lebron driving or operating the two man game with him this is what it turns into. Only solution is having dlo be at least efficient, even if it’s on a low volume, and have one of Rui or AR be outright effective with a decent volume.

AD can’t play all the defense against a large team. Roster is fundamentally not good enough to handle Denver. Too many guards. May need to move Prince to the starting lineup just for the sake of size.
