Every off season comes with Big Decisions!!! It's funny to me how the media and fans viewed this season as somewhat of a surprise when the Hawks did NOTHING last off-season to make ANY REAL basketball fan BELIEVE that they could have a deep run in the playoffs this year.
Couple that with injuries and the Hawks were just about where they should have been. I love the Hawks, but I'm a realist too and I try not to let my emotions overrun my ability to assess situations. Could they have played better or finished at 500, yes, but well over…..absolutely NOT!!!
Quick fix…….Keep Trae & DJ, move JJ to the 3, start "Big O" at the 4 and get a young athletic rim protecting defensive minded center who can finish better than Capela, preferably Nick Claxton.
Get rid of Hunter, Capela & Bey, maybe even Bogie, if you want to shake things up and shed some payroll……..Garrison Matthews can fill in for Bogie as the pinpoint shooter and what the Hawks learned this season was they have bench players who can contribute if they continue to be developed and get playing time.
Bufkin, Bogie, Mo Gueye, Krejci, Bruno & a veteran Big man.
The key, to me is to have more rim protectors, better rebounders & a solid team defensive concept that helps hide Trae's deficiencies.
The Hawks have talent, they just need a few minor tweaks and a dedication to defense
I had a dream the Sixers and Wolves lost. In a surprising move, the Sixers saw Embiid as too injury prone (super unlikely) and move him in the offseason for a first, and some solid role players in order to initiate a soft rebuild (they also get Paul George after letting go of Tobias lol). The wolves lose, and seeking to shed some salary, KAT gets moved.
This Occurs:
Dejounte & Capela + Kings Pick—> 76ers
-$38,000,000
AJ Griffin & Deandre Hunter —> Wolves
-$24,000,000
KAT & EMBIID IN <—
