Dude did a couple of podcasts with a whiteboard and the Hornets were sold

It’s a good first coaching gig to take because no matter what even if you fail horribly nobody will blame you
ObiOneKenobae
The universe will not allow actual basketball discussion in the media.
Scrypto
This is funny because JJ redick is possibly the most hated basketball player of all time by a good majority of our fanbase
ianbits
Come on, there’s tons of guys who have put in years as an assistant coach who would do better and deserve the opportunity more than Redick. If he wants to coach, go approach someone and start as an assistant
theopression
I like JJ Reddick and he seems to have a great basketball mind but he’s never coached at a high level before. He should at least be an assistant or coach at the collegiate/g league level before a team considers putting him at the helm like be for real lmao.
Great_Huckleberry709
Wait what?
xyzyxzy
He really took the Chauncey Billups path to NBA head coach and even skipped a step.
swapan_99
MJ NOOOO!!
Sorry, Force of Habit.
HeisenDiaN
Um, what??????????????????
TacoooJay
How often does someone go from zero professional coaching experience whatsoever to becoming a head coach in the NBA?
Original_Trick_8552
Should he start out as a head coach? Especially for the hornets
DefiniteSauce12
The match doesn’t make sense to me. Young roster with a young coach with no nba coaching experience. Obviously Clifford didn’t work, but you don’t need to go in the total opposite direction. If someone like Mike Brown or Bud is available, that would make more sense to me
Monkey-on-the-couch
Reddick put “did 3 episodes of a podcast with Lebron” on his resume and the Hornets were sold
LegitimatePotato3632
Come on Hornets. What the fuck?
yourlilpissboi
What, why?
desirox
Man drew up some plays on a whiteboard and they want him to coach their team lmao
Trbadismobserver
Lebron gonna need a new white guy for the podcast
weedwhacker7
Luke Walton in the mud
MagicalHurdles
Lebron is gonna hire him as an assistant coach for the Las Vegas Degenerates
MasterTeacher123
This will be a disaster if he’s hired.
Not-Josh-Hart
I actually think he’d break through to Lamelo. That or Lamelo would corrupt JJ 🤷♂️
ogqozo
Seriously though, if somebody doesn’t know, Redick was always interesting to many NBA teams and had some interviews and offers since he retired, including for a head coach.
rompskee
When was the last time someone with no professional coaching experience went straight to being a head coach successfully? Steve Kerr?
BigDad669
This would be fascinating to see how JJ’s brilliance and understanding of the game translates as a coach. Although, idk how he’ll be able to control that locker room 😂
JoJonesy
what, for real? i mean it’s not like former players transitioning to coaching roles *never* works but you think he’d need to be an assistant first— the straight-to-HC thing worked for Steve Kerr and Larry Bird, but that’s about it

He prolly would be a decent coach. But I mean come on lmaooo
meatballman1218
JJ Reddick timeline is crazy
goes from NBA player
To podcaster
Coach of his sons little league team
To commentary
To now maybe a head coach
clevernamehere1628
Pistons need to hire their new POBO cuz all the good candidates for things are gonna be gone
waskittenman
What calling games next to Doris Burke has you considering
Fhyzic
Not hating on JJ Redick but I’m sure there’s way better options out there that would be a better fit for Hornets ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
captaincumsock69
So the show with him and LeBron will be over?
Wavepops
JJ don’t do this lol. You are just gonna get fired in three years
Confident_Berry7271
Fuck it, let’s try it. Maybe he’ll be Steve Kerr.
ExpandTheHorizons
First timeout JJ pulls out the laptop and just has the team watch the podcast.
rumblegod
Would be very funny if JJ isn’t a good coach lmao. After all his shit talking. The most hilarious timeline is him not being good 😭🤣🤣
I_Hate_My_Cat_
Did they not see what happened with Jeff Saturday?
mdrico21
“He’s friends with Lebron and knows at least 7 basketball words, let’s bring him in!”
For real though, I think JJ would make a great coach. In like 3 or 4 years after a couple of assistant jobs.

NO FUCKING WAY LMAOOO
They ran out of options huh
RIP Mind the Game podcast
Don’t fall into the Hornets trap, JJ
Hornets hiring a podcaster it’s so over 💔
