This is sad we are even talking about this two promising players their rookie years destroyed by a bad GM and horrid coaching. I'm doing both Duren and Ivey. Sasser is not a starter at all. He's best suited off the bench. It would be Ivey, 2024 number 1 pick, and a 2028 top 10 protected pick.
No matter which way the pistons turn, it will be a long drive to be respectful once again.
Watching the timberwolves in the playoffs and Mitchell Robinson makes me really want Alex Sarr in the draft. Either him or Nic Claxton are the ideal centers for this team who can defend and catch lobs. I feel like you surround Cade with that, another guard who can either be a primary play maker or off-ball scorer, and another wing shooter and this team will make a massive jump. An off-season where we get Sarr, KCP in free agency, and trade for Brandin Ingram with Ivey and Duren would be the best scenario.
I would add Marcus Sasser as a net positive. He was consistently good within his limitations. I have no concerns about him not reaching his potential, though there appears to be a ceiling right now.
No need to do trades this off season, wait until mid season or end of next season. See how these guys play while they are healthy. You can not keep giving up on players after 2yrs/under to difference coaches. IT makes no sense. Go after key free agents and build around the players that are healthy and can stay healthy.
pistons should be looking at these potential free agents
Jonas Valanciunas – C (starter vet)
Gary Payton II (defender)
Klay Thompson (starter vet)
Miles Bridges (starter)
Obi Toppin – (good stretch big)
D'Angelo Russell (if he use his player option)
I am sure they could get Jonas V and Miles Bridges for under 40million.
If you get lower than top 3 draft pick i say then you look at trades
Blame front office and coaching for lots of the play or our core.
Trade the pick to the Pacers for two first round picks or at least a first round and second round pick and Isaiah Jackson.
