Why the Brunson Knicks remind me of Iverson’s 76ers

Why the Brunson Knicks remind me of Iverson’s 76ers

How did Jalen Brunson set a Knicks playoff record with 47 points? This detailed film breakdown & scouting report explores Brunson’s amazing series against Philadelphia, all of the counters he uses on and off ball, and how his patient approach to different defensive coverages has led to 86 points and 23 assists in the last 2 games.

  1. Man, you didnt have to do that. Us sixers fans are already hurting. Then you compare the knicks to Iverson. Not like youre wrong but still 😭😭😭

  2. It never ceases to amaze me. How good almost all the players from 2023 wc squad are right now. Brunson, Haliburton, Banchero, and Edwards all are leaders of very good teams and some of the best players in the league. Bridges, Reeves, Jackson, and Hart are also essential players for their teams. Bobby Portis is an amazing 6th man, and Kessler is a great paint defender. So basically, only Cam Johnson is a bum. The more I watch basketball this season, the more I believe, that "F-tier" team of WC could beat dream team wannabe squad for the Olympics. Of course in a fair FIBA game

  3. As a Mavs fan, it is so great to see Brunson do well at the Knicks. He seems to continually get better and better. Just when you think he can't grow no more, he goes super-sayan in the playoffs to scrape his team through.

  4. Jalen Brunson is special, but he ain't Iverson. Jalen is actually willing to pass the ball and go off-ball whereas AI wanted the ball.

  5. Let's be honest. If the Knicks were fully healthy all season without any injuries it would be like the Infinity Gauntlet.

  6. Been saying he's gonna be better than Tatum, Embiid, or Durant this postseason and despite a heavy clowning a few weeks back I'm feeling good about it.

  7. We gotta get to a point where we remove Allen Iverson from these comparisons bc its actually tainting his on the court legacy. AI was a pure bucket getter on a poorly constructed roster that had to put up herculean offensive efforts just to have a chance. Not taking anything away from Brunson, Ae, Ja etc but they haven't played with nearly as bad of a team so far in their careers as Sixers chuck in '01. Brunson was rightfully special and deserves praise on the performance but his supporting cast wont be as unproductive offensively the rest of their playoff run.

  8. The amount that players carry the ball these days is absolutely ridiculous. Jalen's big advantage is that he can change his dribbling tempo and direction with incredible ease…. BECAUSE HE HOLDS THE BALL!

  9. I think of Jalen Brunson as this Lone Ranger, or Batman or something. Robin Hood. He doesn’t have any special powers, all he’s got is his toolbelt and his instincts. And he might have the deepest bag in the whole world.

  10. The 01 Sixers is direspectful to the 23-24 Knicks. Name me a team in the league that's deeper. Any one of Anunoby, DiVincenzo, Hart (at a minimum) would be at worst the third best player on the 01 Sixers.

Achiuwa, Bogdanovic, McBride, Hartenstein, Robinson > Geiger, Tyrone Hill, McKie, Snow, Ratliff by a substantial margin

  11. 10:00 "…but they also have a ton of Hart.." while showing Josh Hart b-roll footage. Was this planned or a happy little accident?

  12. Knicks shall very cautious & accurate with trades. This team chemistry is pure while they are still need consistent 2nd option (and 1st when Brunsons out).
Mikal & Markannen (Booker is the dream scenario, but it won’t happen) seem the only 2 options which compliment this roster from both character & fit standpoints.

  13. If Randle was there, can you imagine the gravity he would give and Brunson all of the space needed to operate? I wish I could see that healthy team soon.

  14. Brunson is definitely an top10 nba player and will be in that conversation as long as he continues to play like this. His skillset is beautiful to watch. Can the knicks win with this kind of helio ball tho? We will see.

  15. you arrived at a very similar conclusion to a Chinese basketball analysis channel
I guess heros think alike is true

  16. As a Nuggets fan, I would really like to see you do a video showing off how horrible my Nuggets are as a team.

Jokic has no willpower to take over a game, everybody stands still in off-ball moments, Jokic keeps falling for stupid switches and Denver doesn’t watch the corner on defense so they’re getting cooked on the baseline every time. MPJ has been the only consistent player to deliver this series. AD has been falling everywhere and they’ve had so many chances to blow out the Lakers yet they always find ways to slack and find themselves in horrible positions.

You can hardly tell they have a playbook in those 1H’s. They improvise the entire possession and the Lakers can read it so well because these MFers won’t move off-ball.

They’re so reliant on their performance in the 2H every single game. This whole “conserve energy, let them get their lead and then we go full effort” approach isn’t something you can depend on at all. Jokic can hardly swing his arms in coordination, Jamal has been a mixed bag and Aaron Gordon might just be the best-worst IQ basketball player I’ve ever seen.

I don’t really know how much Denver’s altitude actually affects performance, but for people playing home court – and playing here for nearly a decade – this entire series has been atrocious for them.

Mike Malone’s influence on the team is not working; smacking his roster upside the head would probably work better than how little he criticizes his players. He needs to channel his inner Brooklyn and show people why he’s the NBA’s Henry Hill/Ray Liotta.

Anyways, my Nuggets have gotten so goddamn lucky with how inconsistent the Lakers’ role players have been and it would be beautiful if you made a video on it, because possibly my Nugs can see it and actually have a clue on what the fuck to do if they wanna be Back-to-Back Champions. Which is one thing – QUIT SLACKING LIKE A BITCH.

I don’t care if they win this game and advance, these are all problems that can’t go unnoticed if they want what it takes to win a 2nd ring. So yeah, that would be kinda cool. Maybe not though. I don’t care; I know what I’m seeing is a true phenomenon for my Nugs, and I am gonna lose my mind if I keep seeing this bullshit plan they think they have.
