Woj on #NBAToday – He spoke to Rich Paul, the idea of Bron & Bronny playing together is no longer a priority. They’re looking for the right developmental system for Bronny – Bron is likely back w/ Lakers, it’s just a matter on the structure of deal. 2-3yr deal potentially

Optics. I bet we still draft him with our 2nd round.

He’s just saying that so other random teams from other cities won’t steal Bronny from us. Smart play by Bron.

Okay Woj, what about DLo now

  2. Tall_Succotash

Bron started walking back the play with his son thing last year..I think it’s always been more important for him on what Brony wants to do/needs.

  3. lets_talk_basketball

Dru Joyce made it seem like Bronny is gonna transfer to Duquesne. .which would be great for his development

Damn I guess Bron is squashing the rumors early. Sounds like Bron also knows Bronny may not be ready to play in the NBA while Bron is in the league so I think Bronny goes to the G League somewhere without the circus and see if he can develop his game more. Not gonna lie giving a 40 year old the max deal scares me but I think we have to do it especially if we can’t replace his production. They have to make Bron the 3rd star next year. They can’t rely so heavily on Bron being superman year after year. I love Bron but this year was probably the most I’ve seen him physically decline (still inhuman and a top athlete in the league) but no longer can just outwill his opponent all game long, I don’t know who that star is but they need someone. D’lo is not that guy. Reaves is amazing but he’s not that guy either.

  5. Bronny should go play at Duquesne for a year where he can put up 10 shots a night and develop more

  6. Windhorst has mentioned multiple times Lebron may be looking for a no-trade clause. Has to opt out and sign a new deal to get one. Good news is, his max would be slightly lower than his PO. ~$2m difference

  7. I don’t want Bronny, if we waste a pick on him are we then forced to give him actual minutes so Lebron is happy?

  8. nottherealstanlee

If ya’ll thought Bron at 40 fuckin years old was leaving 151m on the table to go do something in Philly, ya’ll crazy lol He was never leaving. Lakers are going to give him the legacy contract. He’s going to retire here.

Re: Bronny this tells me Bronny might be staying in NCAA maybe try to raise the draft stock again. Could be a smokescreen, but Idk. I almost guarantee Jeanie will demand we draft Bronny if he stays in the draft as a 2nd rounder.

  9. StoneColdAM

Bronny isn’t progressing as much as some would’ve expected. If he’s a 2nd rounder that’s fine, but he doesn’t seem league ready at all. If LeBron is smart, he won’t force his son into the league. Would look worse for them both. Maybe let him forge his own path and ask for a special all-star “pick” so father and son can play together for one night

A few famous wealthy people in LA that have business connections with bron have said that he is making good money outside the nba by just by living in LA him staying with the lakers is a business move

I’m all in on this next 2 years. Use all our draft picks for a trade to give AD and Lebron the best chance these next 2 seasons. We gotta swing for the fences while the GOAT is still playing like a top 10 player.

  12. Knowlongerlurking

Man, I’m done with the thought of spending more money on a player who will be 40 next season. Yeah, he’s the Goat, but there are obvious signs he is slowing down and next season will be more of the same unless he is cut back to 20-30 min/gm.

Father Time makes ruin of every athlete in the end.

What’s wrong with letting Bronny develop in college for a few more years? He clearly isn’t NBA ready and that’s OK. Transfer him to a smaller school that will focus on his development as a combo guard. Tons of nba players needed 2 or 3 years in college.

I think even the G League would probably be too much for him at this point. Those are still grown ass men in that league, most of them were stars at the college level. It’s not the best league for a 20 year old to play in, look at the LA developmental team and how hard it was for them. And those kids were 5 star recruits.

  14. outsidehere

If this is true, glad to hear that Bron is prioritizing Bronny’s development over his own wishes. Bronny needs another year and more potentially.

  15. lostacoshermanos

It’s crazy Lebron will still be playing 3 years from now he’s going after Tom Brady. I think he will try for 50 years old and put all time points record out of reach.

  16. Bron realized the unnecessary pressure this whole “playing together” put on Bronny. This is good to see.

  17. Wise_Ad_112

Lebron wanting to play with his son may have been his dream but is it good for bronny, bronny wants to have a career for him self too and not have everything be attached to his dad. I have a son and I may want to do certain things with him or want him to do certain things doesn’t mean he wants to. Ppl always look at it from lebrons side and it always felt like a forced idea for lebron. No one asked bronny what he wants

  18. Brons the goat, I love him. He’s worth $50 million but if he wants to win and help the lakers.
Take a pay cut and take a 17-25 million dollar 1 year contract see what Rob can build and trade and assess Bronny and your future after the 2025 season.

  19. Antonioshamstrings

Im picturing bronny shooting a game winner, bricking it and LeBron just leaving the stadium without acknowledging anyone like he always does lmao

  20. peterhuan

Let’s draft Bronny and put all in for a third star. As long as we have Bron and AD, we always have a chance for title. We would have to wait for another 10 years if Bron leaves.

  21. gbdarknight77

Leads me to believe that LeBron doesn’t trust the Lakers to develop him. Which is a fair belief.

This team hasn’t been about developing talent since LeBron got here.

Reaves was thrown into the fire and Bronny isn’t someone to do that with, imo. Bronny needs a system that’s gonna be patient and let him make mistakes. It’s ultimately why he should go back to college.

Look at Max Christie. Just bench sitting. His development has been hindered because he doesn’t get minutes and real time reps.

  22. OPsOpinionSucks

Might as well. This franchise has become a circus so let’s just enjoy the clown show. 🤡

  23. last time i checked woj wasn’t connected to klutch x lebron. 🧢

  24. 999_rupees

I like this from Lebron more. It would be like going to work with your Father. You’d be viewed as lesser than and a nepo baby. Imagine the team huddles. It’s just a nightmare situation. I’m glad Bron is giving him space to pursue his career his way.

  25. StarlingRover

kinda a bit of damage control. Bronny didn’t have a great freshman season, so Bron has walked back the comments. However as we saw with Shams’ article there are other ways to get the opinion that lebron has out there without taking heat. Overall bronny has options, Transfer to another university or stay at USC… if he chooses to go to the draft he will be picked up by LA somehow. I think it was the right move to let bronny make his choice.

  26. thebraavosi1

Damn this is pretty crazy – Woj outing his source (usually they would say “my sources”

They r putting the ball in Jeanie hands – Lebron is looking to sign for 3 years! Wild!

  27. It’s good for this to come out now, so the front office can start looking at planning around him being here.

  28. spidey_valkyrie

Bron will play where he can win and then sign a 1 day contract after he retires to share the court as a teammate with Bronny with whatever team he happens to be on. Sticky this post because it’s 100% how it’s going to go down.

  29. VyCanisMajorisss

It just sucks that as long as he’s a Laker, he will be getting max deals. I understand it from the team perspective with merchandise and ticket sales, but I can’t see the team getting any better as long as LBJ is is Purp and Gold.

  30. WholeWideHeart

He’s like, we will pay the Spurs to pick him.
