It’s that time of the season with the trade machine. With how low Joel, Trae, and Julius’ stock are at the moment look at this as 3 individual trades.
BI to NY would allow the Knicks to play true Villanova type basketball. They are playing significantly better without Julius in the lineup.
Embid’s stock has never been lower in Philly. With Maxey’s rise in play to all star level, they could reset their timeline and build around him instead of Embid. Trading Zion and Nance to Philly does that for them. We would have to unload much of our future draft capital. However I would be comfortable with this because of how well we draft in the 2nd round as well as the amount of youth on our roster with Trey, Herb, and Jose.
Trae Young trade would only be appealing to me if he’s 2nd Option. Golden state is the only team to have a 3pt Scoring PG as their first option actually win a championship. It doesn’t translate to Championship winning basketball. Golden State being the exception, not the rule.
The path to a championship at the moment is being able to compete with Denver’s front court size while having dependable shooting from the guards. These trades would put the pelicans in prime position to do so.
Trae, Herb, Murphy, Randle, and Embid
Jose, Hawkins, Naji, Jonas
This 9 man rotation would allow the pelicans complete play style flexibility and depth in the playoffs.
Lastly would be finding a competent Coach who could draw up sets for Embid, Trae, and Julius. Willie Green is just not capable with the white board unfortunately as shown time and time again.
These trades will never happen and the pels will remain in mediocrity.
