Trae Young’s Dad Seems to Have Some Preferences About his Son’s Future

One-sided players can fuck off tbh

  1. Trading for Trae Young would be the 2nd biggest mistake Pelinka made. First was the Westbrick trade by far. I’d rather see Reaves become the starting point guard. Getting a capable big man who can bang with Jokic should be the top priority.

  2. If it’s like D’Lo on an S&T, Rui, JHS and three firsts? Fine.

He’d make our crunch time offense so much healthier.

Not saying I’d love it, but it’s worth considering to elevate the ceiling of our team.

I actually like Trae now and into the future with the right team around him. But unless DLo opts in I just don’t see how they can justify trading three key rotation players to meet his salary. Especially with this weak FA class.

I would much rather try and get Dejounte, cheaper and fits much better with Reaves. If you can get an elite defensive SG like Jalen Suggs next to Trae then it could work but otherwise he’s too much of a defensive liability

Clearly a Trae Young move is a two pronged strategy of making sure we’ve got a core after Bron retires and satisfying Bron by getting another star to compete while he’s still here (🥴). If we go this route, I just hope we do a much better route of making sure the team is balanced and well designed so we aren’t just the Phoenix Suns or the Westbrook Lakers.

If we get Trae we better still address the defensive guard and physical big needs. That has to be fixed regardless of what direction we go

Rather draft Zach Edey and run it back with a few minor changes like AD at the 4

Nope, it will be Westbrook all over agin but even worse.A small guard that can’t defend ending his prime. Everyone can shoot now

Trading for Trae would be a massive mistake a small guard that can’t defend? We already saw how bad DLO is defensively Trae would be a disaster. I much prefer Dejounte Murray tbh.

If he was a free agent, Lebron was gone, and we had cap space, sure why not? Otherwise, thanks but no thanks

Lakers have no chance at contending without taking risks on underrated assets. Everyone focuses on what Trae can’t do, they forget what he can do. He is unquestionably one of the best offensive players in the league. He is unto himself a top 10 offense. Probably the best lob passer in the league (peak AD was the 2nd greatest lob threat ever). Super craft PnR handler, great closer and can get into the paint at will. One of the best passers in the NBA.

Trae Young is D’Lo 2.0. Stay in Atlanta.

Too many ppl in this sub thinks Trae Young is just “another small guard”. Hes not. Hes the offense on his own. He just needs a Draymond to his Steph. Ad can be that.

Comparing Westbrook to Trae is just ignorant.

Trae’s not even a great shooter. He’s a volume scorer. Teams will just sag off him then in defense he’s a liability

Trae can stay far away from LA. There’s nothing he would bring that would be better than what was lost to get him.

Even if he was a free agent, he’d need a salary higher than he’s really worth to the Lakers. The only teams that might benefit from his services are teams like the wizards or the pistons.

  16. Trae Young in LA would be huge but our roster is so poorly built that we have nothing to offer except more draft picks. I’d much rather see the Lakers focus on growing the young talent they have instead of shipping them off because Lebron wants to win now

  17. The media would love him here. Polarizing, flashy, and no danger to win a title. Would be the worst move our franchise could make.
