Honestly, as embarrassing as it was, I really don’t feel that bad about it. Zion’s injury broke my heart but once that happened I watched the OKC series with 0 expectations. He’ll be back next season and we can try and build on this season’s success relative to where we’ve been the last few years. Yes, we need some roster changes to take us to the next level and if those don’t happen I’ll start dooming.
But not yet. No one expected us to contend this year, even with Zion. If we’d been sweeped in the first round with him, it’d be a different story. But the season was over when he got hurt. Doesn’t take away our success in the regular season and doesn’t take away our potential for a real window in the next few years.
Tldr; PSLF.

I think it was a successful season.
The big thing everyone was concerned about at this point last year was if Zion was ever going to be healthy and if he was ever going to buy in and if he was ever going to care and if he was ever going to stay in shape and if he was ever going to make that leap.
Zion really showed a lot about a lot of things this year. Wait, is Zion actually a plus defender now? That was a big win
The other uncertainty was how BI and Zion were going to work together. And we got an answer on that too. They probably don’t. You can’t be staggering your best two players when crunch time is all that matters. Getting that answered is also a plus.
And that gives me a lot of hope going into the season about building a really good team around Zion, Herb, and Trey and a deep cabinet of complementary players and picks to trade.
I think maybe a good mix of centers may be available. May be some discount PGs like Brogdon, Fultz and the Joneses but not sure what may be out there. Murray more than Trae in my mind.
