With the Magic exiting the playoffs, do they come our way for roster improvements?

Ant would help them find spacing and provide a scoring punch. Brogdon was originally drafted by their leadership. Not sure who we would be interested in taking back though. Houstan is intriguing as a shooter. Okeke is interesting as a defender. Harris can still defend and shoot. Don’t know that we want their rooks.

So glad we have so much Schmitz history of player evals:

Either of them for a top ten protected pick would be fine.

  2. I still think Anfernee would be perfect for them. We’re likely in for some disappointment with the return though. I personally am very high on Black, and would gladly take a deal even with him as the focal point.

Anfernee would be a perfect fit next to banchero and franz so i really think theyll at least inquire. Something like suggs or anthony with carter and their pick this year or denvers pick next year (or both) would be a really nice return.

I’ve got Orlando letting Fultz, Harris, and Okekeke walk. Then we ship them Grant, Ant, and Brogdon for no player back, but we take their 2024, 2026, 2028, 2030 first round picks. We also swap our two seconds this year for their two seconds in 2030.

I’d say it’s an upgrade for them with a good chance to improve on their 5th seed in the east.

We get reasonable draft capital, perhaps a little low. But we open 2 roster slots ( would be 3 except for the pick coming back). Then, after signing our three first round picks this year, we will have somewhere in the neighborhood of $30 million of actual cap space to take on a bad contract for a future first round pick.

The lottery has to come first. If POR somehow gets #1 and Sarr (whoever) is the guy, then you know what “position” and contract slot you have to find some room for.

If Sarr, then that position/contract slot is essentially the same as Timelord, and potentially WCJ. So POR wouldn’t have room for all those guys (if Timelord is not medically retired), plus now you are sending out a primary ball handler/creator, so that has to be sorted out.

Cole Anthony has a PPP which makes trading on this years books more difficult, and that would be such a downgrade over Ant, now POR is taking on “bad money” as well as sending out talent, so there has to be additional compensation for the bad money on top of it.

If it were AB and Jett, if POR was interested in that, then now you are sending out 1:2, and you already don’t have enough roster spots for the 2024 picks you currently have. So now POR is throwing away assets/players like Bari and Tou for nothing(?), to make something work for ORL, and losing even more value.

Plus, on top of all that, POR doesn’t have to make a decision on Ant/Scoot this off-season. ORL on the other hand has to make a bunch of decisions about their roster this off-season to fill out the roster, because they technically only have 5 guys under guaranteed contracts (5 players with TO’s. Obviously Paolo isn’t going anywhere, but Jingles is a place-holder, the Wagners and Suggs are extension eligible).

You cited Okeke, as a guy Schmitz liked… Welp, guess who is on the last year of his contract… Can’t combine players in S&T’s, super tough to make it work in this year’s books. So if that’s the guy you want – How the hell are you going to make that happen without a whole bunch of other stuff happening first, to do some crazy cap-jutsu stuff to get that guy?

If/when/then ORL is such an obvious fit that even the worst of the BR fake trade makers know it. Which means it’s up to ORL to make that “Godfather offer”, if they want to try and pry Ant away from POR before the start of next season.

  6. Simons and jeremi grant for Wagner and whatever to match salaries

How about Ant for Wendell Carter and Anthony Black?

Why would anybody give up value for Simons? He straight up sucks on defense. Doesn’t help anybody win.

    I hope they’re that desperate.
