I’d be interested in something like Lee or Adelson with Atkinson lead assistant or vice versa I suppose. This kind of coaching pool is why I warned against firing Ham mid season. Not a lot or proven talent available. I’d almost be willing to use our picks to trade for a coach lmao
There’s really not any good coaching candidates out there but 2 of the best aren’t mentioned here which is a bad sign
If we’re not going after Adelman or Nori, I’d just take a chance on JJ with experienced former coach assistants. Bud and Lee are Milwaukee guys, it would be odd to just stay with that coaching tree after canning Darvin.
No doubt Bud’s a better coach then Ham but I bet the defensive philosophy of packing the paint and giving wide open threes is still gonna be intact, Ham literally learned it from Bud himself and Charles Lee was there also, I can’t get down with that scheme again
Rather just stay away from the Bud/Bucks coaching tree
Edit: 2/3 years Bud coached the Bucks they gave up the most threes in the league. His last year there they were league average at 15 and that was the year Ham left for the Lakers job coincidentally lol

This is just my opinion so take it with a grain of salt. Can’t shake the feeling that Bud keeps getting mentioned due to relationships between Bud and the media. Could be his agent leaking to Shams to keep Bud’s name in the public eye. I just don’t see how the Lakers would hire the “master” to the “apprentice”. The optics of that just would not sit well with the fanbase. I think we end up with one of the current assistant coaches that have been rumored.
I think this sub would prefer me over Bud or anyone from his coaching tree
Charles Lee, who worked for Budenholzer in Atlanta and Milwaukee? Who replaced Darvin Ham as Bud’s lead assistant when the Lakers hired him and only has one year on the Boston bench since then?
He could end up being a great coach, but at this point in the hiring process why are we looking at someone who is essentially the same exact person Darvin Ham was?

We’ve basically got one last crack at it with LeBron. We don’t need someone looking to teat out how to become a head coach. Get a seasoned vet. That’s Coach Bud.
Didn’t Tylue said he was not interested. The guy is in a franchise directed by a multi billionaires that just build a new stadium etc. I am sure he get a massive salary and the promise of big investments.
I know everybody is down on Bud but he did come from the Popovich tree just like Steve Kerr, maybe he still can adjust his scheme like Pop did in 2014

Out of this Sham’s list, I like Akinson, JJ, and Ty lue.
If we do select JJ, at least Coach K will be his advisor so there’s that.

Bud – pass; if I bought a new car that was a POS definitely don’t want the older model to replace it
Charles Lee – pass; an assistant coach from under Bud as a rookie HC for Lakers, what could go wrong?
JJ – pass; most coaches with actual experience can sit down with LeBron and break down plays. Zero NBA coaching experience. Halo effect
Ty Lue – not even really an option; how many times does he have to say he’s not at all interested
Kenny Atkinson – only one with actual HC experience, available, and not associated with Bud. Although Ham’s record (.549) is far better than Atkinson’s as HC with Nets (.383)
Ty lue is fucking ass. He has been his whole career. Go check the clippers sub see how much they fucking hate him.

What’s this sub’s problem with Atkinson. He coached Dlo Din and TP to a winning record with a mid ahh roster besides those three.
David Adelman or Micah Nori, please. We need a coach that’s good for right now and when LeBron eventually retired.
