Pat Riley is not giving a mid 30’s aging star a max extension, with that being said if they blow it up i’m going to say the celtics ended “heat culture” 🙂

Well, damn. I never thought I’d see the day where I agree with Pat Riley, but he’s goddamn right!

This might be the first time I ever liked Pat Riley.

I really didn’t think it was that big of a deal. It seemed more tongue in cheek than anything. In sports you talk shit & they all know each other pretty well

And as we all know Jimmy usually handles contentious contract situations with a quiet grace

  6. Riley basically packing Jimmy’s things for him at this point with all these recent comments. Can you imagine Brad going off on Jayson or Jaylen like this? Butler not exactly the type to forgive and forget either.

But he let Haslem talk shit for 20 years

“When the worst person you know makes a great point”

Always kinda wondered about Jimmys bullshit in regards to Riley. Never really seemed in keeping with the vaunted “culture”. Dude just fucks around putting his team in the playin, and goes supernova for a few weeks every few years.

Doesn’t really add up to me.

Lmao such a clown he talks trash more when he didn’t play at all, dude needs some serious leadership skills not this heat culture stupidity

You would expect Butler to have at least 4 rings by the way he talks

Reminder that the last guys to be older than 31 and be a top 3 guy on a championship team was the Warriors trio in 2022, LeBron in 2020, Lowry in 2019. It was all their last great run and they had immense help.

Unless 35 year old Butler plays like an MVP, the Heat frankly have no chance. That’s what he did in the 2020 and 2023 playoffs, and it still wasn’t enough. The chance of him recreating that as he regresses and continues to be out with injury or load manages during the season is slim to none.

2020-2023 was his chance (2022 was probably it, last year was sort of a miracle), and unless they somehow get All Star help alongside him and Bam, this is Boston/New York’s conference for the foreseeable future. Butler is barely younger than KD and Curry and the same age as PG and Harden. The only guys 34 or older are serviceable role players, aging stars on the decline that can’t carry by themselves anymore, and LeBron. Even LeBron is finally slowing down.

We have stars that are nearly a decade younger. No offense to Butler – incredible player – but he just doesn’t deserve a max at his age unless the Heat for sure can bring in more talent, which is a hell of a gamble to tie up the cap space.

Butler could win if he goes to another team with more talent where he doesn’t have to carry. Otherwise he will retire ringless.

This is like that hardtimes satire article about the worst person you know (Riley) making a good point. Very conflicted

Good for him calling Jimmy’s dumb ass out. Jimmy talking all that shit from the couch and posting the “don’t let us get one” meme was just a bad look especially for a guy who hasn’t won a damn thing in his entire life

This old man Riley; maybe he’s *changed*.
