Why Suns MUST trade Kevin Durant after getting swept by Timberwolves | Hoops Tonight
Jason Timpf and the guys over at @Nerd_Sesh debate what’s next for the Phoenix Suns after getting swept by Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves. The guys all agree that the Suns MUST trade one of their superstars, and at age 35, Kevin Durant looks to be the easiest option to move. No longer can he be the BEST player on a championship team, and the Suns need depth in the worst of ways. Having a big three of Devin Booker, Kevin Durant, and Bradley Beal was a disaster from the start, as the strengths in their games are too similar, leaving them shorthanded everywhere else. Who would you trade away from the Phoenix Suns this offseason?

Magic need help at guard, KD would disrupt their front court.
Best hope the Suns have, is doing a multi team deal for Durant and Beal, getting back picks and players…then rebuild around Booker.
Maybe the Hawks would be willing to pair Beal with Murray or Trae, send one of them + Capela to pair with Booker.
Lakers are the one team that would give up anything (outside of AD/Bron), to get Durant. They could send Reaves to the Hawks, Rui + 2-3 Lakers picks would fit in Phoenix…throw in the necessary contracts to make it all work.

I'd trade Booker, for a mobile big and a great wing defender and a pick or two, and then sign Trae Young to run point. Build around KD and Beal with defense and speed for the next two years. If that doesn't move the needle then blow it up. Booker can bring back assets if he's traded now.
Get KD to the warriors and Warriors would give up Klay, Wiggins and a bench assets which Portland can then flip or keep.
Sorry Jason but the Suns would be crazy to trade Booker, and yes I think he can be the best player on a championship team, he just needs a better supporting cast.
When your three best players are shoot-first wings, who facilitates? Who rebounds? You can't win without a decent point guard
Booker is in the same category as Murray where they can score in bunches and is a tough shot maker, nothing more

The problem with the Suns they wanted their best player in KD to reduce himself to a lesser version of your second best player in Book and and expected to win KD is still KD!
You won't probably see this since the video is old now. Please please please please… Watch the video from Bobby Marks explaining how the apron works. So many of these teams that everyone is saying need to make trades. Literally can't. The new CBA and the apron is a killer of trades and how they work. You can not be in the apron and if you make a multi player trade. You are now treated as though you are in the 2nd apron. The apron was not just about stopping super teams. ITs also gonna do an amazing job of stopping player trade requests because teams literally won't be able to trade players due to trading restrictions. The suns can't trade any of their players for more than 1 player. They can't. Any talk of Suns trades can only be 1 for 1 player wise and the apron team cannot get the more expensive player back. I really wish the NBA media would stop making idiots of themselves not knowing the actual rules of the league now. Talking for 20 minutes about imaginary trade scenarios that are actually invalid due to the new CBA. The new CBA hurts trade request and the Max contract has effectively killed free agency. Players have been back doored into losing a lot of their freedom of movement around the league.
Durant needs to be at least the 4th most physical player in your rotation. He's number two currently.
Booker is a punk. Yeah he can explode in some games but he has consistently fallen short in big games after talking tons of trash. Trade Book. They will get more value. KD and Beal are a better match than JD and Book. Orlando, Utah, Brooklyn, Toronto, Chicago all possible dance partners.
Like the Orlando trade say it happens, suns make it round 2 . Kd is not happy and leaves then what you just leave the suns in rebuild mode. Just a lose lose situation. Run it back is the best scenario for the fans and the org
Just a thought, maybe the Sun's biggest problem is their front office. Their history of poor decisions is not short. If so, any move they make, likely doesn't help.

Here’s a stat for you: Since 2021, Devin Booker has the most 45-point playoff games with 5. Nobody else has more than 3. I wouldn’t be so quick to shut down the idea of him being the best player on a championship team when he’s still just at the beginning of his prime. If the Suns can just bring in a competent PG so Book doesn’t have to carry the whole offense, then we could very well see him light it up on his way to a Finals run like he already showed he was capable of in 2021.
Warriors fans wouldn't give a damn about giving up Kuminga. Kuminga isn't beloved in the Bay like that….especially if it meant getting Durant back.
I think our definitely trade Book. Maybe I'm missing it, but he doesn't seem THAT loved in Phoenix.. and real shit, he's leaving for nothing soon anyway. Trade him

Keeping Booker and Beal in the team makes 0 sense. You're paying 100M/year for two similar players at the
>same<position. Beal has a no trade clause and Booker will get you the most in return. I'd rather trade Booker and get better than keep the three together and know you're getting bounced in the second round at best. Ishbia has , so far, demonstrated incompetence and lack of self awareness. I don't expect him to do anything positive this summer.
