All i’m gonna say is that Minnesota’s defensive performance against Denver in game 2, without Gobert, is the proof that Gobert isn’t actually the reason Minnesota is so good on defense, which was 1st defence in the NBA this season.
They are good defensively as a team. Gobert is part of that team. He may even be the best defender and thus deserving the DPOY, but when the cast around you is so good overall, you can’t really discern the individual performance of the single player.
Edit: I don’t know if it’s a good analogy, but i’d say Gobert is worthy of the DPOY, while Wemby should win an hypothetical “Most Valuable Defender”, in the sense that his value is higher related to us, than Gobert’s is related to Minnesota.

For anyone who’s been following the process, which has included a lot of people revealing their pics ahead of time, it was always obvious it was going to be Rudy. The real question was going to be if Victor, both a rookie and a player on a terrible team, managed to get second.
The fact that he did is something I honestly view as a victory in of itself. That’s an incredible achievement and something we as fans should be proud of for our alien.

If I had to pick one or the other today to go out and man up 1-on-1 I’m not sure I pick Gobert over Wemby. It’s worth a conversation.

Award means absolutely nothing, lol. No idea why some folks get worked up about it… Duncan never even won one. Everyone who watched both play knows Wemby was a better defensive player.
That being said, if Wolves get past Nuggets I am rooting hardcore for them. Ant is the man.
