Thank you for having Bernard King on. It was 40 years ago to this time of year. In 1984 Bernard King led the Knicks past the Pistons in a 5 game series 3-2. He Averaged 42.6 ppg in that series. What an incredible performance with heart and effort. He basically carried that team into the second round. Splints on his fingers and was sick in that game 5. Didn’t matter. Knicks took the Celtics to seven games in the second round. I’ll never forget that season, long ago. Brunson has given the team a similar kind of effort from the point guard position where King was a forward.
I seen that game when Willis Reed hobbled through the tunnel. I was 10 years old at the time, I really remember that because my Big brother was a huge Knicks (Knickerbocker) fan at the time. I remember being so relieved when he came out the tunnel, Then he made his first shot which had the Garden going crazy!!!
