How The Timberwolves Built the Best Team in Basketball

How The Timberwolves Built the Best Team in Basketball

After dominating the Denver Nuggets the first two games, it’s safe to say after a twenty year rebuild the Minnesota Timberwolves have finally arrived. With a young superstar in Anthony Edwards, the DPOY in Rudy Gobert, the long tenured backbone in Karl Anthony Towns, and the best defense in basketball, today we cover how the Timberwolves went from a laughing stock to be the best team in the 2024 playoffs.

  1. If the wolves sweep the nuggets, they are winning the championship.

Ofc unless a main player gets injured. But if they are at full strength thereā€™s literally no one stopping ant or Kat it seems, and thereā€™s no attack apparently that can even get past their defence.

They literally seem like what the nuggets were like last year. They find a way, the nuggets canā€™t do that this year and it was pretty obvious by how much worse they were against LA.

And I donā€™t think anyone has confidence in any teams from the east.

The Celtics are good, but are they really? Especially against a team like the wolves who play real defence. Even the 2022 warriors werenā€™t this good at defence. And I really canā€™t say the Celtics have developed that much since 2022 or last season, the east is just weak asf, so they are the best weak side team.

  2. No hate on the team, I think itā€™s cool to see them almost surge out of nowhere and look poise to win it all. I just donā€™t like Anthony Edwards.

Idk what it is, but him off the court gives asshole vibes.

He says he just wants to kill whatever is in front of him. I mean, yea itā€™s whatever right? Shit talking and ego is a major thing in competitive sports but that seems a little extreme or is that just me?

I know heā€™s young but kids look up to him. Idk bout yā€™all, but I donā€™t want kids running around saying they want to kill whatever is in front of them.

Either way, I hope they do well and I hope Edwards matures and realizes he has a lot of influence on the next generation.

  3. Good video. As a longtime Wolves fan, this describes the journey well. The numbers say they're 16th at offense but thats without KAT for a lot of the regular season, so they're actually much better than it seems on offense with KAT back now. "He's the best offensive player on the team" – Ant

  4. Wolves have 8 players in the top 50 for defensive win shares. 5 in the top 20. Gobert at 1, Ant at 4. They're an all-time team, defensively. And better than the numbers indicate, offensively, too… because they're a lot better on offense now that KAT is back.

  5. bro yall sleeping as soon as i saw the lakers spanking the nuggest and then looking at timberwolves roster yeah they are literally built to beat the nuggets even if healthy but im not saying timerwolves win the chip

  6. I am Wolves fan from the beginning and Iā€™m so sick of hearing about our history of futility. This team doesnā€™t give a shit about that and you shouldnā€™t either. Itā€™s such a meek mentality to dwell on the past. This team has proven to be a great defense all year and has been at the top of the western conference standings for most of the year so act like it. Damn

  7. Very true, Iā€™m not sure they are a small market team though. Their media market share is bigger than Detroit, Denver, Orlando, Cleveland, Salt Lake City, Sacramento, Miami, Portland, Milwaukee, etcā€¦

  8. First off, Minnesota is not a small market team,, and if there was a Team
That has had more Heartache than Minnesota, I sure would like to know who, The fans really deserve this,
And I think this is the year the WOLFIE'S
    Take the Title

  9. They spent the most cap money in the NBA on their team this year. That is how they built the most expensive(best) team this year. If the Wolves do not win the Larry then it is an upset.

  10. honestly ive never seen that much length move this well in a system defense. Even Rudy gets out to the perimeter and the only mismach is Conley on a 4-5 and Kat / gobert on a very shifty 1. Other than that they literally could switch everything except they dint even need to because they navigate screens so well. Absolutely ridiculous compared to most teams who concede advantages in the pick in roll game every time doen the floor.

  11. Watch a full Minnesota game and it makes sense. They're the only team I've watched that consistently press while defending. I remember how novel it seemed… they just wear down and over stimulate opponents.

  12. Great video man. I love your commentary. I wish you would make these videos longer and go more in depth. I believe the video essay format (40ish minutes) would benefit you alot

  13. This was a lazy video. The small market line is old, tired, and applied randomly (inconsistently) by analysts to some teams. It means nothing when there is a salary cap/luxury tax. Also, that they "came out of nowhere" line isn't true at all, you've just been sleeping on them. They have been at the top of the western conference most of the year

  14. Pretty evident that this wasn't made by someone who actually followed the T-Wolves all those years

  15. They're just like the 2021 Celtics. Sweeping the Nets big3, beating Milwaukee and Miami but lost against Steph. Let's just observe

  16. Even if they win a chip they still have up too much for Rudy. Additionally heā€™s getting paid too much. He is not that valuable. Heā€™s been great for the Wolves and will be a big part of them winning if it happens but they are really good without him. We just witnessed that game 2.
