  1. Tbh he didnā€™t say much

    But JJ come on dowwwwwwn

  2. Well he can also be in the locker room and enjoy a high when we win a road game by being an assistant coach for us.

  3. BizzyHaze

He has the it factor, seems like he could control a locker room.

Honestly, I think JJ just has that ā€œitā€ factor that makes him such a viable coaching candidate.

Itā€™s hard to quantify but he had a solid basketball career (HS, Duke, NBA) and was a solid role player throughout his career. He understands what itā€™s like to be a team player and being on multiple teams throughout his 15 year career he has seen it all.

He obviously has a tremendous basketball IQ and seems to be well respected by his peers which is huge in being able lead a team and command a locker room.

I actually like JJ as a possible head coach and even as an assistant to work towards being a head coach.

Itā€™s risky to hire a rookie head coach in any situation but if itā€™s JJ I would have faith in his ability to get the job done.

  5. The idea of JJ has grown on me recently tbh assuming his staff is composed of former head coaches. I just think your first order of business is a guy that lebron and AD respect and will buy in with

  6. Missing the feeling of playing isnā€™t really enough for me.

What makes him viable as a rookie head coach here is the reputation he created for himself on and on for the court. I trust him to not let the job go to his head, I trust him to get good staff, and I trust him to listen to the players.

I think he would like to come on and stay on, this franchise desperately needs stability in the coaching dept.

JJ head coach, Frank Vogel lead defensive coordinator, Terry Stotts or Kenny Atkinson lead offensive coordinator

    I like this

weā€™ve lambasted the front office cheapness and hiring of first time head coaches and now weā€™re gonna be like, JJ thoooā€¦.
Give it 3 months with him at the helm and this whole sub will be on the verge of suicide. Even if hes not doing that bad of a job

A sudden influx of positive JJ as head coach comments in here is suspicious. I donā€™t have the attention span to look into all these accounts, but Iā€™d put a small amount of money on them being shills for whoever his agent is

  11. imakogitaco

How is he any different from, say, Steve Nash? Asking genuinely.

  12. TreeLankaPresidente

I actually think heā€™d make a good coach, but would prefer him to stay in media. Heā€™s 1 of maybe 2-3 reasonable in NBA media. Heā€™s too important for basketball culture to coach.

  13. Spirituallly

Guy reminds me of Matt LeFleur type of hire. Well respected around the league by players and coaches, knows his shit, and heā€™s handsome.

  14. Forget_Opinions

Regardless of JJ’s reputation; good players do not automatically equate into good coaches.

  15. Of the two options: failing with an Xā€™s and Oā€™s /high IQ coach like JJ vs failing with another Ra Ra dumbass like Doc or Hamas, I would much rather pick the first option.

Any coach has a very high chance of failing given the available option and current situation with an aging LeBron. But thereā€™s at least one intangible here in that LeBron seems to respect JJ and has good rapport with him. Canā€™t say that about any of the options available

  16. Can someone tell me why rjā€™s story about jjā€™s willingness to yell at a nine year old to stfu is weirdly reassuring?

  17. CoachTwisterT3

I tend to root for the funniest outcomes when despair is the other option, so join me in this: Imagine the salt mines if JJ is just accidentally a savant who leads us in 4 gentlemenā€™s sweeps on our way to a title over the Celtics. On a serious note, I do hope we opt for good experience on a guy thatā€™s been places. If JJ is really that into the idea of coaching I bet heā€™d come cheap for a year as an assistant and that pays you dividends. Not saying I wanna see us mandate any staff, but that plus Handy returning if he doesnā€™t end up elsewhere pay beyond the basketball, thatā€™s a people move for your players that we need as our core.

JJ Redick played Socom while at Duke. Best game of its day. Heā€™s a gamer. I kinda dig the wild card play. Who else has Lebrons respect? Go for it. Just get some centers. Big humans. Roll the dice at this point. Get Bronny too. Party in the La La Land!
