  1. Personally, I’d say yes to Rob, no to Cody. There are no two-way players in this draft. But considering that we have 2 picks, it would be wise to draft someone who is elite offensively like Rob, and someone who is elite defensively at 8. And I don’t remember Cody being all that great defensively compared to dudes like Holland and Buzelis.

  2. Makes sense. If I’m the spurs though – and I’m sure others will start saying this also – I’d take my chances with dillingham being there at 8, and take the forward/wing at 4.

KOC had Risacher going 7 to Portland. I like Cody, but taking Risacher at 4 then banking on Rob being there at 8 could be a better play

I’m not a huge fan of Williams. He’s slow and doesn’t do much on the court. He has good length and that will help team defense, but he’s just really unremarkable at this point.

  4. I wonder if people actually watched Cody play at Colorado or they just look at his tools and last name. He’s not good

If we do get him i’ll support him but I just don’t see it with the other wings available

No thank you on Williams. I’d be fine with rob

Looking at the teams 5-7 I would be surprised if any of them take a lead guard. So, I think we go wing at 4 and guard at 8.

I want Topic over Dillingham, not a fan of Williams

I have no idea why, but every time people mentioned Dillingham, I always pictured a white boy.
Interesting how racial bias works, in my mind I clearly associated being small and a guard as being white.

I wouldn’t hate Williams as a project if other players were off the board, but I prefer Castle if he is there at 8.

Rob is difficult, because his projections offensively are hard to gauge. In general, I think that undersized, poor defense with good offense guards are fairly easy to come by in the NBA and I think the only reason he is being projected to us is that we need a starting PG.

Long-term, I just don’t see him as a starting PG. I think he is more like a 6th man of instant offense and shooting on a good team.

Look at Anfernee Simons. Do you think the spurs could trade for him and he becomes a difference maker? He’s awful on defense, but he is taller and has a wingspan 4-5″ longer than Rob. I wouldn’t trade #4 for Simons, and I don’t think that makes us a significantly better team, even if he is a good shooter/passer.

I’m going to go off what we have seen from the Spurs in their drafting and words, and that is that they value:

    * Positional portability. They like guys that can line up multiple places.
    * They love height and length. They wanted Sochan to play PG so they could field a lineup where Devin was the smallest player.
    * They believe in defense. It has always been the foundation of Pop’s teams.

Judging from the history of Spurs picks, I just don’t see the Spurs taking Rob Dillingham. If he had the Trae Young-level of gravity in college (Trae led NCAA in points and assists as a fish) it might be different. But I think Dillingham just looks better because this draft is so weak and wouldn’t be considered a lottery pick in most drafts because of his lack of size and defense.

  10. Dumb draft imo. No team in the 5 to 7 range will want Dillingham, I’d rather take the wing at 4 and pick-up Rob at 8.

This is very simple. You see a Kentucky guard and you take him
