“Portland can take a swing on the best available talent here, envisioning Topic as part of a multi-playmaker attack alongside Scoot Henderson, Shaedon Sharpe and Anfernee Simons.”

Funny. They even mention at pick 14 the blazers roster is overcrowded with guards. But at 7 they pick… a point guard, and say that point guard can fit with scoot, Shaedon, AND Ant? Gimmie a break, what a joke

Are we sure there won’t be a shorter guard available?

It doesn’t make since to draft a PG if there isn’t going to be playing time for them. Ant and Brodgon better be gone if Topik is the pick.

Good thing ESPN won’t be in the war room on draft night.

Ain’t no way we take another guard

ESPN must be in on the joke that Portland only drafts guards
TrailBlazingShinobi
Only if we ended up trading Simons or Brogd.
I rather take a swing on Cody Williams at 7

If Portland does happen to draft Topic, you 99.5% know players are on the move. And for that I’d be happy.

Topic is easily my least favorite top 10 prospect of probably the last 5 years. I am incredibly low on him. I don’t see his game translating well at all.
I think his absolute potential is what Pritchard was coming into this year before he made a big leap. A somewhat useful 7th/8th spark plug off the bench.
I don’t care what team I’m the GM of, I wouldn’t want to use a top 25 pick on him.

If Topic looks good, which some say he’s the most talented offensive player in the draft, I’d have no problem with him at 7.
Ant is going to greener pastures soon anyways, at this point he’s not someone to plan around, we don’t know what Shaedon or Scoot will be. All 3 may be able to play together by the time the rest of the team is ready.

I mean, I don’t see Topic falling to 7 regardless but there is no way we draft him. I’m quite high on Nikola overall, but I don’t see any universe where he and Scoot could share the floor and not stymie each other’s development, not to mention Ant+Sharpe. He needs the ball in his hands to be effective more than any other guard in the lottery.
If he’s somehow still on the board at 7 it makes the potential trade back a serious option tho. Him or Clingan falling to 7 and the top wings going high are the two scenarios where I could legit see us moving down vs up. Think there’s a number of teams who would be tempted to part with assets to snag them.

The problem is guards don’t hold trade value. If we needed guards and were crowded out front but the bpa was a front court player, I could see it, easy trade. But trading guards for front court players is hard.

Would love Topic or Castle to replace Scoot. We need a big PG. the league is going Big. We need to follow suit.
Then trade Scoot in a year or two, trade Ant this summer as well as Brogdon and Grant.

If we draft another guard, idc if he’s 6”6, idk if I could emotionally handle it

If/when/then… They are both over 6’3″, and 200#…
