[Charania] Pistons to make a run at Tim Connelly – likely to opt out of his final year (but also likely to re-sign). $15m annually *could* pry him away

Just kill me. It’s one kick to the nuts after another in this state.

Ownership, whoever the hell it is better pony up.
Realistically, I think you just have to make a comparable offer. We got Connelly because Denver ownership wasn’t willing to get close to what we offered.

Remember when we tried to see if Pat Riley fancied leaving Miami before we signed TC?
Would be hilarious to try again
(Please dont try it again. I dont want another gm search)

Good luck, nobody wants to move to Detroit.

Tim missed out on the championship in Denver, and I’m sure that killed him. I have to imagine Connelly want’s to see this through and get that championship before moving on. Whoever the Pistons hire will fail, and Tim can always look at the job again in a few years if chooses to move on after our title.

He isn’t leaving, this is silly. Don’t let a couple of losses bleed into general team anxiety.

I know money talks but he hit the jackpot with Ant. He gets to construct a team around Ant for the next decade plus hopefully. I don’t see him or anyone else wanting to leave that situation. That goes for coaches and players as well.

Without knowing specifics of his reported team performance bonus, all we know is that he makes $8M/yr with $24M left. If the offer is $15M/yr, that’s almost double. Idc how much money he already has, if the contract is fully guaranteed up to $60M with twice the annual value and almost 3x total value remaining, I think he takes that. It’d be hard not to. Plus he’d have the new fun challenge of trying to make the pistons competent. Feels like a very real threat to lose him imo
Formal_Junket_1585
He did a good job putting this team together but he didn’t trade Kyle at the deadline so go ahead and take him Detroit

I know money is king and he’s unlikely to leave but why would you leave a team with a 22 y/o Anthony Edwards on it?

Good. Doesn’t matter. He chose defense and the nba favors offense drastically. They need scorers, not offensive cones he’s been trading for like rudy, Kyle, naw, and morris.

Mf gonna just sign a new deal with a new team each year and just make super team after super team. We’re gonna have to wait 30 more years for it to be our turn again smh

I’m done with this franchise if they do not retain Tim Connelly.

If we lose Connelly, it’s going to be hard to not be doom and gloom.
