Jaylen Brown’s best series ever? And addressing the lazy Boston Celtics narratives

Jaylen Brown might be having the best playoff series of his career, and it’s because he’s not trying to. John Karalis of Boston Sports Journal talks about that and then gets into why people overreact so much to Boston losses before addressing the tired narrative that things are too easy for the Celtics.

  1. To easy of a time would be them not losing game 2s at home smh seriously this is not a good habit at all for them to blow out opponents in game 1s then coming out in game 2s with no effort, hustle or urgency at all smh

  2. I dated a Heat fan once… he had a small…

Anyway… I agree JB has been playing great. Hoping overall the Team eliminates inconsistencies and remain poised…. LFG ☘️

  3. Hey John, ha ha ha, I liked "CREEPED UP" better than "creeped out"… ha ha, seriously, it's like 21st century creepy…🤪

I'm gone use it the next time I think about it haha…😂
    🍀💚

  4. I’m a Celtics fan and I’m glad
We have a path that we do now to get to the finals but people saying “we have one of the easiest paths to the finals” aren’t wrong and even other Celtics fans shouldn’t be ignorant and not acknowledge that if the heat are missing Jimmy butler & Tery rozier in the first series + Jarrett Allen being out the whole series and Mitchell missing the game to tie the series and maybe out game 5. Not
2 mention 4-5 Key players are out 4 the knicks. Indiana is the only team left and other then us, them and Orlando we’re the only relatively healthy teams but the pacers weren’t viewed as a contending team I think they are good but no ones giving them a shot vs us and we should beat them even without porzingus whose our 3rd best player so it could be a series. So yes this is an easy path 2 THE FINALS because the nuggets in no way shape or form would be a cake walk and could definitely beat us even fully healthy. And John is right any team would want 2 trade positions with us it is better to be battle
    Tested but not
To the extent the Celtics in the past would let series
Go to long or sell on home games

  5. I remember the Bird Celtics having to fight the 76ers then the Pistons — cost them championships as the Lakers in the West had far less serious competition. Going into the finals the fatigue was clear

  6. I’m hoping the mavs could win because denver is a tough match up .. big men have been killing us Bam , Mobley … Jokic is 10 times better with back up…. Hopefully it’s denver they don’t have a offense big…. And Knicks will be tough because they’re a physical we aren’t. We’d win the series our team deeper but hopefully pacers win

  7. Please Celtics, let's get it done tonight in 5 at home. 'No playing with your food'. Intensity and focus the key 'ingredients' for a victory!

  8. One of the biggest issues I have with these media takes is the non stop praise for all these teams who have one guy essentially dong it all and then he’s surrounded by a bunch of mid role players. Sure, Brunson, Donovan Mitchell and Anthony Edwards are great but clearly their teams struggle to win games unless they drop over 40 every single game. Then you have Boston who is a well rounded team with many different options and all we hear is “Jayson Tatum isn’t him because he’s not dropping 40 points a night.” It’s ridiculous. There are 5 all star caliber players on the court when Boston is at full strength so of course we don’t need someone putting up a million shots. Why is the media and so obsessed with pouring praise on all these teams with one player excelling and then dumping all over Boston when they win a playoff game but don’t win by 25?

The other take is yes, the “easy” path. All the talk is that everyone is injured and “Boston is healthy” and they fail to remember that we have been missing our number 2/3 option since the first series!!!! 🙄

Edit- haha I made this comment about 3/4 a way through the podcast and then you pretty much said what I said. 😅

  9. I think brad has it in him to make another change if tatum cant figure it out. I think Wyc is pretty fed up with these pansies.

  10. Am I the only one who thinks after all the crying by the cavs about free throws that the Cs are going to get a terrible whistle for game 5? Still will win, it will just be maddening to watch the officiating.

  11. Haslem's gig at ESPN was intentional on the network's part because they know both Celtics fans and haters will tune in and watch whatever he'll say about the team. ESPN doesn't care if this Haslem is a moron, they just want the clicks

  12. People forget JB was the best Celtics player in the 2022 finals (probably the most consistent player throughout the whole 2022 playoffs, for the Celtics)

  13. The same people constantly dismissing the celtics are the same people who were thrilled to dismiss the nuggets when they were down 0-2. Same people that started saying anthony edwards is like MJ, these people are clowns lol.

  14. Injuries suck but they happen. Giannis doesn't have a ring if Kyrie and Harden don't get hurt in 2021; Raptor don't have a title in 2020 if KD and Klay don't lose their legs in the finals. Heck, Heat don't make it to the fake bubble finals if Gordan and Kemba were healthy.

  15. It's always been this way. The league has a lot of balance lately so it's not playing out this way as frequently lately but In general, if you get the 1 seed….
    You are expected to
    Win round 1 in 4-5
    Win round 2 in 5-6
    Win round 3 in 6-7
Win OR Lose Finals in 6-7

They have been battle tested for multiple years and won a lot of them. They don't need to prove anything there. They've beat Butler, beat Giannis, beat Embiid, beat Durant and Kyrie. All they need to prove is they can be the last team standing, and they will.

  16. The need for a daily story creates a lot of loud and unnecessary narratives. Absolutely correct Sir. Plus social media has us talking trash or listening to it all day. Creates an unhealthy society

  17. Why do I need to listen to this guy go on and on about how he is more reasonable than all other commentators? Should not someone other than he be.saying that? It is the playoffs and he should have tons of facts and results to discuss

  18. the only thing more disappointing than a Boston beat writer taking 9 games to give the Celtics’ best player any individual coverage are the Celtics fans mad cuz that time isn’t spent glazing Jayson Tatum & pretending his terrible shooting isnt hurting this team.

u have listeners, John, who believe shooting efficiency is irrelevant to winning basketball.

    that doesn’t disappoint u?

do u never once think “why are so many of my viewers basketball illiterate” ?

seriously, if efficiency no longer matters then what is this? a pajama party? are we talking basketball here or debating our favorite Backstreet Boy?

  19. Jayson Tatum is shooting 0/19 from three OVERALL in the second half of the first 9 playoff games this postseason.

he hasnt hit a single shot from 3 in the second half of any game these playoffs.

  20. I love your channel as a life long Bostonian and Celtics fan! It was soooooo satisfying hearing you saying it like it is about the media and why they are the way they are, was especially satisfying when you were calling out Felger and Mazz and Perk as their thing being a shtick! You are def not a homer or green teamer, you call it like it is and you’re my go to guy when it comes to Celtics coverage!

  21. I love how celtics haters say we have a easy path to the finals cause we not playing no one good 😂 but the last two years we swept Kd / Kyrie , beat Giannis , beat Jimmy , Beat Embiid to if you ask me we deserve a easy path we fought harder then ANY team in the past two years especially winning 64 games

  22. I can already see excuses loading if we win the chip “injured this injured that”, but people fail to recognize we earned our spot for taking the regular season seriously. Not to mention everyone respects the nuggets chip against a 8th seeded Miami heat 😂 the hypocrisy is unreal because of the hate of the Celtics

  23. I’m amazed how efficient he’s been! Dude hits the toughest shots at times! That mid range is so deadly. I wish he would shoot more from mid range

  24. Jaylen has been balling out. The last game against the Cavs was ugly as hell. Too much ISO and they turned the ball over way too many times. We have got to be in beast mode by the time we get to the finals.

  25. I disagree John both JB and JT do it on both end’s while getting their teammates involved so thy absolutely can will their team but in many way’s.

  26. Boston plays down to their competition, they didn’t perform well against top 3 teams in the west, offense mostly stagnated when it comes to ball movement
