Spurs Post Lottery Mock Draft | SSPN Offseason

Jude is back to give his thoughts on Johnathan Givony’s post-lottery mock draft and his selections for the Spurs! 🏀🎙️

(Sorry for mispronouncing Givony wrong throughout the video — I’ve thought for years there was another o in his name but there is not. Apologies y’all 😂)

  1. Please stop with the non shooting Nikola Topic crush. Spurs need a big time passer and scorer like Dillingham.

  2. I think whats likely to happen is that there will be a lot of trades and a lot of wrong players mocked in this year’s draft day.

  3. Dillie at 4 is a great pick. We desperately need a PG. Next pick should be focused on defense either a small forward or center. We had the worst defense when wemby was off the floor.

  4. The Spurs seem to cover height to pair with Wemby. I just see them going for Topic height, playmaking, and potential over Dillingham shooting, potential, and playmaking. And at 8 no offense to Knecht, but the Spurs have seemingly ignored pure shooters in the first round religiously. I wouldn't hate the pick as he would play a needed role, but I hope one of the GLEAGUE guys or Williams would be picked first. But there is another foreign guy slowly moving up some draft boards and that is Tidjane Salaun and it would definitely be a Spurs type move to go with a foreign wing way before he is supposedly going to be mocked

  5. Given the crunch for roster space, I wonder if the spurs can package their two 2024 2nd round picks in a potential trade for a defensive minded vet unless they can pick up a true draft steal.

  6. The draft is such a crapshoot if either pick pans out I'll be happy, which is why having two is so big. I know next year is considered a better draft, but we'll have multiple picks again anyway. I agree Dillingham seems like the best PG prospect, so that makes sense to me.

Btw, Givony isn't pronounced giv-a-noy, is it?

  7. I think the Spurs will go for a forward with there 4th and a pg in the 8th as forwards are more important then pg

  8. We need players that will help Wemby with defense instead of adding more defensive workload on him. I hope we get Reed Sheppard instead of Rob Dillingham.

  9. All I'm reading is DillingSPAM

    I pray he's not a Spur in 2025.

The games I've watched Topic in full. He's far from a horrible shooter. Idk what type of Spurs fans follow these channels.

But they're ultra casual and heavy on regurgitating comments that others have typed in regards to lack of shooting ability.

Miss me with the BS. Topic is a steal if we land him over Dillingham.

  10. I like both players but would hate if the Spurs draft both of them. Both of them are bad defenders. Spurs were horrible on defense this year, even with Wemby bringing them to mediocrity on his own, and this would not help(probably makes it worse).

  11. “gi-VO-nee.” “gi-VO-nee.”

Putting yourself out there as a member of the NBA media and you can’t pronounce the name of the current top draft expert? Not a good look.

So distracting that I clicked off at 2:18.

Or don’t. But God is in the details and that tells any educated NBA fan you’re not putting in 100%.

  12. i dont really like taking dalton knecht at 8… derrick white has good deffense.. and he got pick at 29 so even it doesnt work out, it doesnt matter, im not gonna risk a top 10 pick for a guy like dalton knecht, except the spurs gonna trade down + why would we have 2 bad deffender in the starting line up and expecting victor to handle it all… lets not give victor that burden, 1 bad deffender on the starting 5 is more than enough

  13. With all the draft capital the Spurs have and tradable players, plus this years #4 and #8 picks many trade scenarios can happen between now and June 26. Perhaps the Hawks want to take back those two UNPROTECTED PICKS the Spurs have for this year's #1?

  14. It’s crazy that everybody says it’s a bad draft class because no superstar but wow the global level is so high.
I would love #4 Risacher and 8# Rob knowing that Detroit, Charlotte and Portland don’t need a PG

  15. I don't see a lot of people trying to understand which personality would fit best with Victor. I see Reed Sherpard getting along a lot more than Rob Dillingham. Victor does not like strass and show off players. Risacher would be great, Topic and of course Sarr would be perfect. I just don't see it with Dillingham, he will overdo it > he is a scoot anderson bis

  16. Bro look at teams behind spurs
    5) pistons aren’t gonna take another guard
    6) hornets prob won’t take guard either
    7) blazers certainly aren’t going to take another guard

Why in the hell woudnt you get a wing which spurs desperately need help with when spurs can just get rob at 8

  17. When we clear at 4 & 8 ,
I think it's time to bring Cade to Spur.

It will cost a lot of assets,
but still worth it when we have Wemby.

  18. These picks would guarantee the Spurs would stay near, or at, the bottom of the league in Defense. Getting old watching every commentator focus on Offense. The Spurs biggest issue was Defense. They had none. This makes it even worse.

You don't win playoff games without Defense. Repeat…you DON'T win playoff games without Defense. Just look at the defensive rankings of the teams in the playoffs now. 3 of the Top 4 defensive teams are STILL IN THE PLAYOFFS. The other is ranked 11.

The Spurs Defense in the league? #26

Yeah, lets focus on Offense. freakin' middle school analysis.

Basically, these picks would put all the pressure for D on Wemby. SMH

  19. What you have to do a such a case is to list, in the order, the 8 players you want.

Thereby, you know in your list who is the upper choice still available when you pick in four, and then in 8, indepently of the others.

  20. Since Sarr's most likely off the table probably going 1-3 in terms of a good defensive bigman I say we go for Clingan at #4 pick then Rob at #8 since the teams going 5-7 dont need a PG and we're all good

  21. I understand you like Dillingham and Knecht. I love those guys too. Everyone likes scorers. In high school, every girl loved the QB of the team. Everyone falls into that trap. But everyone quickly forgets the talent it takes to surround your stars with quality key players. Not to take anything away from those two, like I said I want them on our team too. But we need a big. Collins is not the answer. We are getting manhandled inside with zero help. With the second pick or number 8th pick. I would like to take a big in Donovan Clingan. Reports are that's where he will fall. If the Spurs are on the board and he available, I would strongly advise the Spurs to grab him up. That would be the steal of the draft at number 8. Dillingham/Topic/etc, will all be available at number 4. We will never get another opportunity to get a quality big. With a 7'4" Wemby and 7'3" Clingan, we should be able to challenge any number of teams in the West. If that the case, then Sheppard will be the most logical pick at 4. He will spread the court for the 2 bigs inside. No way to stop the Spurs after that.

  22. Jude, I appreciate your videos.
But I am not a fan of your picks.
Rob Dillingham is not a true point guard. He is more of a shooting guard. Also, he is a small guy.
I would much rather have Nikola Topic. Better size. I believe the Spurs can improve his shooting.
At #8, I would prefer some one other than Dalton Knecht. At 23, Knecht is a bit old to be a rookie in today’s NBA.
The ideal picks for the Spurs would be Zaccharie Risacher and Topic.

  23. I was with you both, I like the Dillingham/Knecht combo, but after sleeping on it, I think that you take whatever wing/big you have at the top of your board and chance that Detroit, Charlotte, and Portland don't take a PG since they don't need one. Anyone trying to get up ahead of you, and you beat their price with your 8th and that chest of 2nds.

  24. sheppard is the best available guard at no 4. dayton knecht proabbly available at 8. not the most ideal but not that bad.

  25. cody williams at pick 4 and whoever rob ,topic or reed at 8 or trade it away for a PG if they want

cody williams have elite scoring touch, very likely to be a star in the future.

  26. its spursian but i dont think it is creative enough. pg scorer and corner 3 guy seems very old school. if you go say Reed and Holland (if poss) you have breakneck defense across 3 positions. I would also propose a trade for jon isaac for same reason. absolute killer D would be game over for everyone else for 5 years+
