Some interesting tidbits in the article:

    >The Raptors are going to be reactive rather than proactive in the NBA draft.

    >Toronto officials are going with the “best available player” mantra at this point of the process, and that makes a lot of sense. But there are holes in the roster, as team president Masai Ujiri and general manager Bobby Webster have said publicly. All things considered, frontcourt size and a backup point guard are going to trump “best available player” when it comes to making their first selection at No. 19.

The players Doug lists as possiblities are: Salaun, Collier, Kyle Filipowski, Yves Missi, Edey, Tyler Smith

If they are going with “best player available” mantra then they are admitting they’re picking Zach Edey if he’s available. That phrase loses all meaning otherwise.

I’d personally worry less about getting a bench PG or C and focus more on getting defensive wings to play the 3/4 to ease Scotties defensive burden.

I dunno. I trust Masai enough at this point to draft someone who makes sense for the team in the long term.

we may not see an immediate impact, but I think no.1 priority should be a wing to take some of the defensive burden off Scottie, who is, obviosly, our best defender. There’s no way he can be guarding the no.1 offensive player on an opposing team and be expected to average 22-25 points a game, which I’d hope be his natural next step. We need another OG type wing OR an above average defending 3 or 5. It’s okay if this player doesn’t contribute much to the offence, but we need another solid defence minded player.

Masai may choose to trade for this player, or draft him, but definitely expect one of the two options.

We know Masai is going to draft Missi, a Cameroonian.
