Miami Heat Draft Targets With The 15th Pick Ft. Kyle Filpowski, Jared McCain & Isaiah Collier

Miami Heat Draft Targets With The 15th Pick Ft. Kyle Filpowski, Jared McCain & Isaiah Collier

Heat fans I’m mad at myself why you ask well I wanted to remember our oneyear anniversary or our birthday if you will and I missed it disappointed myself our first ever video on the heat report was May 15th which was an Eastern Conference Finals preview with the Boston Celtics we just passed a full year of making content I’m so happy to be doing this with you guys and let’s spam those hbds for the birthday of the channel whoever spend hbd the most on today show we’ll get a shout out on a video in this upcoming week so spam those hbds all right welcome into the weekend Heat fans hopefully it’s going well for everyone I am Nick rolloff on the heat report this is Chad Sports and Today’s Show we are looking at draft targets for the Miami Heat with the 15th overall pick it’s the first selection just outside the quote unquote lottery in the 2024 and ba Draft Miami is picking it and I’ve got five names plus an honorable mention of who I would Target and who I’d expect Miami to look at as well before we get into some prospects though I think it’s important to realize what the biggest needs are for the Miami Heat at least in my mind number one is a consistent scoring guard now are they going to find that at pick 15 probably unlikely but that is why there are so many trade rumors for Donovan Mitchell potentially Trey young because the heat needs some someone to take the pressure off Jimmy and Bam in the regular season and postseason as a consistent scoring option you also need a floor spacing big man to play alongside bamit a bio as well as back him up but this is more of a center not a forward Nia yovic obviously can space the floor and can hit the shots from Beyond The Arc at a good clip next to Bam but I’m looking more at a center and then number three an athletic 3 and D Wing because you’re going to lose Caleb Martin free agency that is basically set in stone and it’s very unlikely you’re going to keep Haywood heith as well so you’re going to need someone to come off that aostra bench to play defense and hit some big time shots from the outside all right without further Ado after looking at my biggest needs the first draft Target and my number one guy I hope slides to Miami at 15 right now that I think is realistic there’s obviously better targets out there but I’m only looking at guys that I expect to be there in that 15th pick range in mine is Kyle filipowski the Ford SL Center out of Duke I’ve been a big fan of his game for a while now and there’s been comps to Lori Market in because of his size and the way he moves on the floor which is fine it’s fair probably not as consistent or good as a three-point shooter as Lori is but he also developed that game after coming out of Arizona but the measurables on filipowski are interesting to say the least he’s 610 and 3/4 so the height is good without shoes so with tro he’s a seven-footer like that is good stuff to be a player next to Bam or behind bam but the one issue I have with him is that his wingspan is not so good and I’m a wingspan guy I look for that trait in players as you will and we’ve seen players on Miami Tyler hero not have a good wingspan and struggle for their position the vert and weight are fine but when you look at his wingspan it’s tough for me to sell him as a pure Center in the NBA I think of him as a four or a small ball five that’s kind of where I lean on Kyle filipowski which is fine like if you can play him alongside bam or nia yic coming off the bench assuming yic is on the roster and any pick you make is still here because that trade that pick might be going to uh Cleveland for all we know but having him back up Bam play alongside Bam play alongside yic as well I think could benefit Miami very well and he was productive for the Blue Devils in 2324 floting up 16 points a game you see the three-point numbers being pretty solid low volume though for filipowski and a little note on Kyle as well I thought he was going to be a lottery pick in last year’s NBA draft if he came out as a true freshman elected to go back to school had an all right season for Duke and his stock did not change which if your Philip psky is a little bit disappointing because this is a weaker draft class than they one uh year prior and he didn’t get to improve his stock philipos is a guy I have my eyes out for when it comes to the 15th pick but I want you guys to name a prospect that Miami should draft draft I know a lot of you guys are going to say zacki stop freaking saying Zack e not going to happen he doesn’t fit with the heat but I guess it’s a free country you can shout him out if you want to all right number two we’ll head back to the Duke Blue Devils and Jared McCain who is a guard for the dukies it’s gross that two Dukes lead off the list but these two guys are very very solid I’m a big fan of Jared McCain’s game he is a true freshman and he showcased a lot of nice things for John Shire and the Blue Devils a year go and his measurements are intriguing because he’s not really a two guard in terms of size but that’s kind of his play style McCain isn’t that standard ball iny hands point guard that is going to handle the Rock and lead your offense maybe he can evolve into that no I’m not saying he can’t but at 6’2 without shoes so probably about 63 when you’re on the court and not the craziest wingspan he looks like a point guard he’s very similar to Jaylen Brunson in size if you look at their two measurements so it will be all about McCain if he could develop a handle in more of a facilitator role because right now he is just a score and a sniper which is fine because that would help Miami coming off the bench and they need more shooting Off the Bench I mean mcade went 19 of 25 from three at the combine they give you five from each spot on the Move off the catch that was amongst the best from these prospects at the combine and his numbers at Duke a year ago reflect what he did at the combine he’s got a silky smooth shooting stroke that is very consistent and very repeatable and allowed him to shoot 41.4% from Beyond The Arc for Duke a season ago he also had a game where he had eight plus threes on the road against Florida State he also set I think a freshman record in a first half three pointers made for Duke in March Madness Tournament like this guy’s a big time player and he’s a big time shooter he would be very good in Miami also a very good Defender moves his feet very well gets in your grill at average I believe a one and a half steals this season as well McCain would fit the heat culture and fit their need for three-point shooting Off the Bench it’s just curious to see what his role is in the NBA because he would be quite the undersiz two guard so can he develop into a one and get that handle slash facilitated all right we’re passing 11,000 subscribers but the next goal is 12K so we just hit 11 please help us out by hitting that sub button we are going to have the latest trade rumors injury news when this season rolls back around we also are going to have the draft news and rumors as well as probably being live for the NBA draft well hit that sub button and join us for the best Miami Heat coverage all right number three we’ll stay in the guard department and this is Isaiah Kier the guard from USC is my number thir three guy I’d like Miami to end up with and this one has all the upside in the world I’m a big fan of Ker’s game and he also was projected to be a top three pick coming into this season of college basketball in the overseas as well but he just never really got going for the Trojans but the raw size and athleticism is there 62 and a half without shoes so he is a point guard but he is a natural point guard so that is one thing that stands out here even though he’s only 63 63 and a quarter with shoes on that will play the wingspan is pretty decent for his size anytime you see a wingspan a probably two in or higher um than your height that will play ver of 34 in is good this guy’s a good athlete and he was able to get to the rim and score for USC quite a bit a season ago only played in 27 games disappointing Trojan’s team under Andy Enfield obviously bronny James was there a lot of people expected this team to be amongst the best in college basketball and I believe they were actually a preseason top 25 team as well he shot 49% from the deck because he was able to get to the rim now the one concern with ker is he doesn’t have a consistent jump shot but when you watch him play it isn’t the ugliest jump shot it looks like something that can refined and really developed into a consistent three-point asset in Kier right now already flashes an amazing first step and finishing ability to be a top tier scoring guard in the NBA so if you add a three-point ball that is even just 36 and a half 37% from deep in the NBA on catch and shoot doesn’t have to be a big volume guy only has to put up three and a half four a game but if you shoot 37% and you add in the quickness the first step getting to the rim and finishing this is is someone who could average 15 plus points per game relatively early in his career in the association and he’s already a good passer he is he averaged five assists for the Trojans well that team stunk so to average five assists there with bad teammates that just show cases imagine if you had good teammates it’d be closer to seven or eight he is an elite passer and facilitator number four Tristan dilva who we’ve talked about quite a bit on the channel I think he’s the most talked about Prospect thus far and it’s because he just fits so many things that Miami wants and check so many boxes the forward from Colorado and he’s got fantastic size to him man 68 and a quarter 610 and a quarter wingspan good vertical as well and this is someone who is your Caleb Martin replacement as I mentioned he is going to leave and if you took to Silva he would fill everything that Martin basically vacated with athleticism off the bench size he actually has better size than Caleb Martin Martin was about 65 66 the Silva as you see is 6 eight so he can play the four and not really be a small ball four he’s a legit four and the thing that improve impressed me I should say so much was his allaround ability for the Buffalo shot 40% just about from three for Colorado but he was also tked with kind of being a facilitator if you will the assist numbers aren’t there but if you watch Colorado play and specifically watch them in March Badness where they made it all the way to the Sweet 16 they were fantastic and they were were letting him have control of the offense he’s also really good at moving his feet and those lengthy arms of a 610 and a half wingspan allows him to get some shots that he can’t so I’m a big fan of what he can provide to Miami defensively as well as the offensive side and this is just a heat draft pick everything I mentioned his defense his IQ his four-year college career I mean this is an older Prospect 21 22 years old he is exactly what you would think a Miami Heat draft pick would be big fan of him I hate to keep on saying I’m big fan of all these guys but they made the list so I really am we talked about needs for Miami scoring guard shooting floor spacing big athletic Wing three and D Off the Bench what is the biggest need for the Miami Heat in your opinion I know a lot of you guys are going to say size but we’ll see what you guys have in store for me down in the comment section last pick here is Devin Carter the guard from Providence number five on the list and I think Providence is just really bringing out a good uh array of guards here Devin Carter they also got dual inside who’s in the g-league combine right now in case you didn’t know but Devin Carter you want to talk about an athletic freak uh yeah this is one of them 62 and a quarter without shoes how about this wingspan 68 and 3/4 are you me 6 and 1/2 inch Wings span fan added to your height unbelievable and that’s not even the most crazy number on here he registered a 42 in vertical at the NBA Combine that was the top of this class it was tied but still the top when I look at Devin Carter I just see Josh Hart I I do and Josh Hart’s 64 65 he’s more of a three plays small ball four because of his physicality and athleticism I think Devin Carter is a guard version of Josh Hart he will crash the glass he will dunk on top of you because he’s got a 42in vertical with lengthy arms and his numbers at Providence reflected that I mean we’re talking about a 6-2 guard fellas averaging 8 and a half rebounds that is not common and it’s not like he can’t score the basketball he is a more polished scorer right now and was at Providence than Josh Hart was when he was coming out of Villanova he averaged 20 points a game and Bryce Hopkins who the best player on Providence was he tore his ACL Carter was the number two he stepped up started getting the number one assignments from opposing defenses and did not waiver still put up 20 points a game and shot really well from three at 37.7% and it’s not me who will have a crush on Devin Carter which I do I’m guaranteeing you this right now the Miami Heat will love Devin Carter absolutely will love him because because his winning mentality his toughness his grit he’s an experienced college player he started his career at South Carolina Pat Riley will fall in love with Devin Carter and I and honestly if you had to put a gun to my head and say who would the heat take in the NBA draft if they kept the pick at 15 this would probably be my pick probably not the guy I want the most but it is the person I think Pat Riley will fall in love with the most honorable mention here for the heat is NOLA durich the forward from Serbia who flashed at the NBA Combine he was terrific overseas for his specific team and ironically enough was teates with Nia yovic in Serbia so there’s a connection there he also played really well averaging 14 and a half points per game shooting 45% from the field and 33% from three the only concern I have with durich he averaged three and a half assists overseas and 3.2 turnovers but has been compared to Serbian Paul George and I would love if Miami gave him a hard look at pick number 15 all right that will do it for today’s video make sure you hit that sub button because we’re going to have more Miami Heat draft coverage for you guys leading up to the late June draft so hit that sub button I’ll see you in the next video go Heat [Music]

  1. How do you feel about Kel’el War center from Indiana 7ft that can shot at a decent volume. He runs the floor and feet doesn’t look too slow. Do you think he would be a good fit

  2. I would love if the heat could draft both DEVIN CARTER and TRISTAN DA SILVA and undrafted NIKOLI JURISIÇ soon! 🔥

  3. Miami Heat draft Zach Edey or Devin Carter and in the 2nd round Alex Karaban or Justin Edwards. Trade Herro for Lauri Markkanen. The reason the Heat lost the last two finals appearances is size and injuries. Players are getting injured because they getting banged up by other teams big and size.
