Practice Report: Rudy Gobert On Game 7 Versus Denver | Win Or Go Home

Michael Grady here television voice of the Minnesota Timberwolves here at the Denver Nuggets practice facility final practice for the Timberwolves before a Do or Die game seven on Sunday night here in Denver no shoot around tomorrow so this is the final tuneup before the big game and after practice I caught up with number 27 Rudy gobert Rudy has been a wild second round series thus far how would you describe this roller coaster to this point uh I mean it’s uh it’s fun yeah know we work really hard to in this position you know um it’s everything we say will be you know facing some of the best teams in the world uh you know facing the Champions right now so it’s uh you know but we want to be Champions we we right where we want to be know it’s on us to uh be that team that we know we can be and uh and have a great game tomorrow what was the key to finding that fire once again in game six after losing games three four and five you guys got right back to the team that we saw in the first six games of the playoff I think just being ourselves you know not not overthinking uh just trusting one another and uh and go out there and just play with a high level of energy and intensity and uh and when you do that you have no regrets at the end you know so she’s really um sometimes you need to have your we need to have a back against the wall to find that you know but it’s uh when we do you know it’s uh it’s fun to be a part of and it’s fun to watch this is one of the more dynamic offens in the NBA that you’re facing yet you’ve held them under 100 points three times in this series from your position as Defensive Player of the Year what’s been the key to slop slowing down not only yic but this entire starting five I mean obviously an amazing offensive team so for us is uh it’s always a challenge and we know that uh you know we’re not going to keep them uh at zero points obviously but we got to yeah make them work make them work for everything they get and uh and try to take away the the the things that they that are easy for them you know and uh and even when we do that they they’re a very good team and they have the probably one of the best uh the best offensive player in the NBA right now in the world so uh we know that they’re going to yeah they’re still going to score our times and they still going to make us work and the most important thing for us is just to compete compete and uh keep trusting what we do and uh and get to the next play you know don’t get uh don’t get discouraged when somebody scores and if we make a mistake like let’s keep keep going keep going keep going and um and and also try to take away the transition I was on a personal not how has fatherhood added perspective to Life as a as a basketball player uh I mean a lot you know and even before I was born but obviously when he’s born it’s magnified but um even if basketball is my life it makes you realize that you know there’s something bigger you know than just that and now there’s a new life itself you know so it’s uh it’s good you know it’s still uh you know I want his dad I want his dad to be a champion so it’s still uh still my my purpose the things that I want to accomplish but uh I know that when I go home I have something that even more important than that which is uh try to be the best dad I can be what is the night before a game seven like will you will you sleep like a baby will you will it be hard to sleep I don’t know I mean I’m going to stick to my routine stick to my routine it’s uh it’s a game seven but it’s it’s a big game like we’ve had all the big games before like I’ve had uh all the big games in my career you know and uh and and uh and at the end of the day the preparation don’t start today you know my whole life and all life have been prepared for these moments you know the work that we putting as a team and the work that we putting individually uh they all lead to these moments so uh for me is just uh yeah just stick to my routine and uh I just play and last thing within the game itself what are the keys for this group coming off that big game in game six now you’re in their environment where you won twice already in this series what will be the keys uh just keep let the game Flow you know uh stay composed no matter what happens and uh and have fun have fun you know it’s uh I mean when you when you’re 12 years old and you you’re in your bedroom you dream about these moments so now you’re here so let’s enjoy it can’t wait to see it thanks so much
