yeah so I do want to talk about uh our reliable connection uh presented to you by Xfinity um and the reliable connection I mentioned earlier was was Ant and the locker room attendance in Denver who as he was walking out and the best part of the story is um he was on the podium he done his press conference it was over you know he was in a great mood as he should have been he’s he’s pretty much always in a great mood but this one especially he didn’t have a Transcendent game he had 27 points and he was asked there’s only a Plus 43 in the game not bad he was asked hey um did you really tell the Press room or the um the locker room attendants in Denver that you would see them for game s he’s like yeah I told those mfers I’d see him in game seven and they walked away and he was like he’s like y’all were there you saw it like not only not only did he did he confirm him but he’s like and I got witnesses right yeah and what reminded me of is those stories when the the Celtics in um I think 2009 I think 2009 or 2 maybe 2010 I mean I I thought of I thought of game five in 2016 when a certain coach put a bunch of money in right well that’s where he got it from lock but it wasn’t his idea in 2010 the Celtics lost on Christmas Day at the Lakers everybody believed that it was going to be that’s what the finals were going to be so Doc Rivers took $100 from every player put it in the ceiling of the coach’s office in Staple Center and then six months later for the finals so basically the point was okay we’re going to invest right now we’re going to come back and get our money in the finals and he did and it was still in the ceiling because why wouldn’t it be and you know there was that’s also the hockey visiting locker room so there was probably what 60 teams 50 teams in and out of there over the next six months um well also did the Celtics make any TR trades because if they traded somebody probably and that guy’s new team came through the Staple Center that would have seemed to be a perfect opportunity but maybe but maybe the players didn’t know where doc actually hit it DOC just took the money all right that’s possible yeah or but maybe that guy didn’t get his his uh his Ceno back like that’s you know I would I mean I think by you know it would have been fair game to take all the Cotes take all a dozen of them whatever well you also got to get up on the it’s a pretty good hiding spot you know I’m not sure doc with his knees got up on that on that table but maybe wasn’t the one to put it in the ceiling anyway credit for it so Ty who was on that coach tyo was on that coaching staff replicated it in 2016 when the Cavs won game five that was a game where Draymond was suspended in but Boga got hurt took $100 and there was it was from all not just the the players that from all members of the staff who were in the locker room which ended up being 55 players 55 people I should say so there was 5,500 bucks sitting in the ceiling and um Tai did get it down after game seven but apparently didn’t give most of the money money back he just kept it because he had got fined $35,000 um by the league for complaining about officials after game four um you can read those stories and many others in Return of the King wow look at that reliable connection is Pat on the back right there New York Times bestselling book which is still selling by the way I need I need the Lakers it’s it’s almost earned past there’s the book for YouTube Watchers it’s almost earned past its Advance which is rare and I just need I need the Lakers to win our guy is gonna have a back problem in addition to his sleep problems and his hair problems here I’m just saying I just need a few more sales to get past the advance where we trigger like the the the bonus all right um so then aunt says this and um uh which is sort of the same thing like all you know we’ll be back after losing game five and the here’s here’s what I’m getting to and here’s why I I want to talk about it now um to to pimp your book no no gotta get over that gotta get over that that Tri be you better be careful about making pimp the book uh jokes there mcmah no I’m just glad the president’s being saiden do you think this guy is going to do that every GNA be just his face is gonna be just replaced by the book oh yeah by the book it’s right here the problem is all these other podcasts he’s gonna do to promote this book are gonna realize how hard it is to get him on a podcast man listen it department will help if there’s money involved uh anyway um we have a real opportunity here a real potential moment for Anne Edwards um look I don’t know what the what the maybe Jackson will take a look at what the early numbers are obviously the nuggets are going to be heavily favored obviously joic is going to be expected to have a great game the nuggets have played you know yic has played I think in four game sevens the last time they played in one was in the bubble the famous Clippers series where the Clippers blew the 3-1 lead I have the line you want to guess what it is I looked up Murray actually Murray had 40 in that game what did Joker do the line I’m goingon to guess the line is four a half five and a half the betting line not their line four and a half on the nose okay sorry it’s late four and a half on the nose for I wouldn’t surprised if it moved a little bit in Minnesota’s Direction because I would think that a lot of people are going to believe in the nuggets and and why shouldn’t they and I have no doubt it it actually opened at five and a half powered by ESPN bet as Jackson says uh opened at five and a half is already down to four and a half power of the ant okay I was wrong um I would just say about ant he has it within him oh you think I’m not I’m not uh saying he will but I refer to this I refer to this as the Matrix moment um I don’t know if Jackson gets the reference this he’ll be a good litmus test for that I don’t know if Jackson’s ever seen the movie The Matrix neither have I I’ve seen the player Sean Maran yeah that’s not who I was talking about ja has seen one of the movies yeah hopefully the first one hopefully the first one there’s only one you need to see multiple um but you know Neo stops the bullets okay and basically you see this moment sometimes with some of the all-time greats who have the ability to raise their game to a level where what happens doesn’t matter the last time I saw in the league was in 2021 um Giannis in game six of the finals where he achieved you know Pure Energy so much so that he was hitting free throws wasn’t he like 17 of 19 17 for 19 had a 50 piece in game six of the finals to close out the Suns 20 rebounds did he have 20 rebounds believe so okay there was there was nothing five blocks something was incredible yeah he was not going he was not going to lose the game just like in 2007 LeBron was not going to lose the 48 special to Detroit yes were you um this is what is going to be I think required from Ant and I believe that he has this will happen for him someday it hasn’t happened yet he’s young and it may not happen on Sunday um he may a stinker for as good as an is to me I feel like this is this game is going to be about the MVP of the league and you know which obviously is not some crazy statement to make but for as good as an is and for as good as Ann has been in these playoffs like we saw in game five I we spent the last pod talking about how great nio yic was in that game and how incredible he was in particular in that third quarter and when he dials it up there’s not anybody that can match him and for as great as an is and as as fun as this wolves team has been to me this game seven like ultimately I think is going to come down to can Nicole yic do that again and if he can and I don’t think it matters what ant does and I don’t think it matters what Minnesota does Denver will win the game now that’s obviously a high bar to clerics I’m not sure anybody I haven’t seen very many quarters better than that third quarter or many games better than that game that yic played given I think I think we said it the other day is the one of two players ever along with Chris Paul that have 4010 and no 40 points 10 assists and no turnovers in a playoff game so like the bar is high but he’s the MVP and the guy who’s been I think fairly crowned the best player on the planet for a reason so you know let’s see him go out there at home and make sure his team advances if Murray’s four of 18 Joker is gonna have to be awfully good and how concerned how real do we think this elbow thing is he we’re not We’re not gonna be told the real answer so it doesn’t I’m just saying based of what we watch certainly looked like it was a problem today yeah he he surely did not downplay it um you know I mean judge what you want the guy was four of 18 uh you know when he they do get two days off when he was asked about Anthony Edwards defense on him he basically said the elbow is the problem not who’s guarding me um so we’ll see I mean should you poke the should you poke the ant bear like that I I thought that was a strange thing to say well Jamal Jamal is not one to give credit from a competitive he’s as competitive as anybody in the league he’s not one to really give credit to anybody else for anything when it comes to him not playing well you know I will say this also Jamal Murray has a pretty impressive history of delivering big and big games too he sure does I he does I he has he has two game winners in these playoffs but all in all it’s been a rough rough playoff uh you know what his effective field goal percentage is right now now in the playoffs 43.5 yeah I mean he came into the playoffs shooting uh 40% from the field and 31% from three and now was before going four for 18 I suspect I will do some quick math but I suspect he’s now under 40% for the playoffs shooting after that game which is not great yeah so I mean look I think Denver had 70 points in this game 70 that’s aign from a different era I mean it’s it’s wild that they had these two games this series they got absolutely curb stomped by Minnesota like at home or OB this game wasn’t at home but losing at home like that and then losing like this with a chance to close the series out I mean I picked Denver to win the series in seven I thought this was going to be a six or seven game series I think we all thought it was going to be a really competitive series I I don’t think any of us thought they were two games in the series where Minnesota absolutely obliterated Denver it’s been a weird series it’s been three blowouts and it’s going to game seven yeah it’s it’s definitely that’s also like 2016 that the only close game in 2016 was game seven otherwise blowouts each way um and you know I I would assume that the wolves go back to the um the double teaming of joic and I would assume that Denver will spend two days is getting ready for that um I I’ll say this you know Carl towns didn’t you know out of everything anybody played well Carl towns who was you know considered to be very needed to have a big shooting night didn’t he only had 10 points missed all four of his threes he did have some rebounds but um maybe Carl towns hits seven threes I mean w and by the way to go back to Jamaal Murray after tonight’s game 39.1% overall shooting for the playoffs 31.1% from three he shot 50% or better from the field twice in the playoffs and he shot under 30% twice in the playoffs so not not exactly wasn’t hurt for all those games obviously that’s I mean that’s what I mean for a guy who you know obviously we’ve talked a bunch like he has not made an All-Star team not really come close not made an all NBA team not really come close but has had so many of these incandescent moments in the playoffs he’s seen as a star level player and these playoffs that version of Jamal Murray outside those two shots he hit against the Lakers at the end of the game and even in those games he wasn’t great that guy has not really shown up and certainly would be helpful to the Joker if he would show up in game seven tell you what hang around Pepperdine you use words like incandescent that’s right uh all right well I don’t like when can I just say I have a pet peeve when the team loses game six and a chance to close out um well doesn’t even the loser but I I hate the phrase uh game seven the best two words in sports when it comes from the team that lost yeah no the better two words are moving on yeah like like if you know if you win if you win you’re like oh man we got life we got a shot in game seven like you know best two words in sports but like when when you lose and you say that it’s a kind of a cop out yeah like hey hey we lost but it’s ain’t it going to be great Ain it going to be fun like to your point McMahon it’s a lot better to say moving on the bellich we’re moving on to game seven yeah moving on to game seven I’m glad the seventh game let’s let’s see like you said I mean I I do think it’s a game that’s about the MVP but you know these are fun moments to see where a young guy comes up and and look an has played Four elimination games in his career and he’s had big time numbers in all of them so he’s probably gonna have big time numbers again on Sunday he ain’t gonna be scared I can gu on T that look Wendy Wendy publicly pleaded for a game seven in this series and the path to it was kind of funky but he also publicly guaranteed a Denver win we got a collision course here I didn’t publicly do that I privately did that that you made public sorry that’s you publicly guaranteed it prediction prediction was made yeah well I’m not making a prediction about Sunday and I’m not I’m saying that largely because I believe an ant I believe in I mean I’m not saying a negative word about yic seriously I think he’s trying to contradict his prediction to me m if yic went for a 40 Point triple double it would be amazing but none of us would like oh okay well just another great game we’ll catch you in the in the Conference Finals but uh I just want to I just want to see ant I just want to see Aunt have this opportunity and I’m sure he can’t wait for it [Music]
