game seven going to be epic I believe in the squad believe that we can do this something special it’s going to be the hardest game of Our Lives it’s going to be super tough they going to punch and we going to punch back I told him I said I see y’all for game [Music] seven oh Edwards yic three another one we was flying yic makes it Go ion down but the world out man he got the best player in the world he’s a special player he can do everything on the floor supp be easy we need to be the agress first there’s no more wi there’s no more mistakes there’s no more time for error legacies are made in the playoffs got to have that killer mentality this is going to be big boy basketball good at the Go got it got it got it a big time three oh it’s so ladies and gentlemen incredible no quitting the chap I love when people count us out simple as that we know it’s going to be a war defend champions for a reason playoff intensity this is legendary Right Here those are the two greatest words in tonight you know you guys have all played in game sevens uh chuckster 2 and three Kenny 3- one Vince 0 and2 but you’ve all been there you’ve all been on that stage uh and sometimes the results can be amazing Chuck you had a um what was it a 44 or no a 25 uh and 18 game shooting 53% another time you had a 44 and 24 um tell me about it this was the against Seattle with well the first thing is you haven’t been you haven’t slept for two days the the excitement the nervousness and excitement is incredible you know everybody in the NBA who’s not playing is going to be watching it’s exciting it’s fun it’s depressing when you lose but man there’s nothing like it I mean you are so excited especially when you get to this point in the playoffs cuz you’re like you’re down to the the nitty-gritty now yeah but man it is so much fun you won a game seven in the finals in 94 yeah I you know what’s the interesting thing is the the one I remember most and and actually was the one we lost you know we lost to Seattle in a game seven in over time uh uh both myself and Vernon Maxwell had shots to win it and go and and send us to the next round but I think for us is not what Minnesota and Denver is because that was the launching point for us to win cuz we were a young team and we like wow we got to a game seven we got this close to moving on to the Western Conference fin we didn’t believe in ourselves yet that made us believe then we got start going and so I remember the lost as the believing F platform but for these guys today it’s not belief this is we got to get there sometimes it can be you know Pat Riley always says and one of my favorite quotes in basketball there are two things there’s winning and there’s misery yeah uh and look you had a you had the ball in your hands with a game on the line a Toronto Raptor yeah ex well I I mean I was I I accept it I wanted I wanted the opportunity and halfway uh I I felt it was good and once it got about the other on the other half I was like uh-oh too far but you know I I was all for it now I went home that night on the on the flight home that went straight to the gym and I made sure I made that shot and I got that opportunity again uh against uh San Antonio in the corner a little over but it was like the same thing just prepare for the moment and it’s like like I said it’s nothing like a game seven you have to play your best basketball you have to every possession counts and it’s easy to say that for the playoffs but it’s every possession counts in game seven and you can’t play outside of yourself it’s no hero ball yeah and and and that’s what’s important to understand going out there guys do your role do what’s gotten us here to this point um so in game sevens you know what the records say through 150 games 75% of the time it’s the home team that wins but since we got out of the bubble in 2020 in the playoffs since then Road teams are seven and four in game seven why out of the bubble you think Hy uh well I mention out of the bubble because there was no real home in Road there gotta okay so since the since the bubble um you’re looking at a seven-4 record for the road teams uh including the Pacers today who went to the Garden in New York and made their way to the Eastern Conference Finals this has been such a strange series with the home team losing the first four games um is there any way to predict Chuck what we’re going to see tonight in Denver zero uh uh I I to me it’s going to be interesting I think that the Minnesota timber was theya watched our show the other night after games five I think it is and we said cuz I’ve always said the Timo was only going to go is for a car out the towns take them I said he’s got the guard Joker rud is too light cuz every time he bumps in rout he flies like six feet off him he took the challenge in game six got them off to a good start I think if the timber Wills are going to win that guy right there is the most important player Anthony’s going to do his thing but if he plays well against the Joker on the offensive and defensive end I think that he’s going to play well and cuz if you go back and look at this series look at that those numbers right there what game did they kill Denver game two who was not there in game two yeah who was not there in game two Rudy Gober I think Carl laston toown has is a better match up for the Joker he proved it again I have no idea when they went back to him in those other games but he they went to him in gain six and Joker is the best player in the world but I think if the woods going to have a chance he’s got to be the guy he’s got a better body to try to guard Rudy and he’s more athletic in my opinion to guard Joker say this about Rudy Gober that kind of bothers me watching the matchup is he he stands straight up you can’t guard a guy who’s bigger than you straight up because every shot you take like you say flying he never was in that like low Bas stance where I can absorb some of that contact and he kept getting bumped and bumped to where his jump hook or he was at Joker’s Mercy Time After Time After Time so if he when if he does have this matchup I just feel like he needs to be a little more aggressive with his hands yeah and a lower base to kind of not get rooted under the basket and he’s at the mercy of Joker every time 100% yeah as much as I think some Flack you know that Rudy was getting for guard and the Joker he he actually was playing well offensively he he was you know during he’s playing well offensively and we should have gave him offensive player the year I’m just saying but on the defensive end I’m GNA this is this is another thing that maybe I’m like this is just speculative if you’re on a team with Rudy go you with cat and we say we’re coming a double team coming down to double team Joker if it’s Rudy I probably hesitate because I’m like he’s the defensive player of the year he might block this and so if you’re if you’re the off defensive team as a working as a team you don’t come as fast because normally Rudy doesn’t need help he he doesn’t need so you’re not automatically just sprinting down there and so that’s some of it as well when I watch watched it I’m like they’re not coming to help as as quickly as they do when they come with cat because they that’s the defensive player of the year so all of those things play a part but game seven throw it out the window it’s going to be it’s going to have to be everybody doing their job but I I the the stat speak for themselves the two games that cat guarded him they blew the nuggets out it’s it’s that Rudy is a hell of a Defender but it’s just a bad match up for him cuz he Joker just so good fun sound he just bangs the hell out and knocked him off and knocked him off and jump hooking him to death one legging him to death it’s just a bad matchup for for for Rudy that doesn’t mean Rudy a hell of a player like Kevin mcel he’s the best player I ever played against Moses took him I was too small to handle Kevin mcel I guarded Robert Parish I know I was a hell of a player I could mcel just too big for me it was just a bad matchup that’s why I God at Robert Paris Moes says he’s too big for you I’ll take him and I’ll take Robert Paris so sometimes par should have killed you too no but they weren’t going to go to Robert Paris they would not go they’re going to go to Joker every time Robert Paris was a hell of a player now but I’m saying they were not going to run their offense that that’s actually probably the biggest point they’re not running they’re not running their offense through Robert Parish they’re gonna run their offense to bird and Mel and Dan Ames are gonna take a bunch of bad shot CU he was a gunner uh I love shots just Tak but I just think that if they’re going to it’s up all just about matchups how about um Michael Porter Jr Jamal Murray in this one because um Michael Porter Jr’s been in single digits the last three games Jamal Murray’s had some horrible first halves what do the Denver Nuggets need to see at home tonight I think Michael Porter plays a huge role in this because if regardless of whoever’s guarding Joker you must double team you can’t let him have his way so yes you want to I I say you run your offense early through Jamal and get him going because Joker can get his whenever he wants but I feel like when the double team comes Michael Porter Jr is going to play a huge role because if he’s knocking down shots that opens up the floor and you have decisions to make who are you going to make or who you going to allow to have the big Knight he can kill you from the three-point line if he’s confident and see that’s why I disagree remember the other night when I asked you when I was looking at the stats Joker can’t have 40 points and 13 assists he can have a or b he can’t have both I agree so I’m never leaving Michael Porter open I’m going to let Rudy and Carl play him and let him get his 40 but like I say the the the reason the nuggets are champ Joker is going to get triple doubles he can get eight assists maybe seven I’m not if he get 13 and and score 40 points they’re probably going to win Kenny I go back to something you said the other day when we were talking about the possibility of this series coming back to Denver for a game seven and you said only if Mike connley Plays yeah Mike connley who’s been bothered by a calf did play he’s got the best plus minus in this in this series on either side uh 36 assists seven turnovers describe how vital he is to what Minnesota’s trying to do tonight the Vitality comes from this Ernie you don’t have to be the best player on your team you just have to be the best player to put everybody in their natural position he is the best player if anyone else is out they can they they can still have a superpower at that position meaning other obviously Ant-Man but if let’s say Carl Anthony town has to play the five he can do it you know if if if if you move Jaylen over from the three he could do it there’s no one who could move into the point guard position on their team and go I’m really better here there’s no one that could say that so he just makes everything easier for everyone else they’re in their natural positions and for Ant-Man I would hate that not know where he is if I’m the point guard guard if I’m on defense and I’m the point guard and I’m guarding Mike connley and and ant-man’s behind me and I got to now jump to the ball as he’s driving it’s too late and so him being at the point when when Mike’s out I could see him we could all help we could all help on on Ant-Man you cannot help on him when Mike Conley’s in the game and Mike is that calming voice he’s a vet that is respected in the locker room I think look what he did for Donovan Mitchell he turned his game around helped him become a leader and I think he’s done the same thing for ant and you can see him being a vocal leader and Mike is that kind of guy he’ll come up to you and guys listen and his ability to shoot and make plays for others was definitely missed when he went on the floor I love Mike Conley but he’s not the key is Carl and ant same thing the nuggets are not going to win just Jamal Murray play well they can have all them or Aaron Gordon like we always try to make this say dude this basketball your best players have to play well Joker Michael uh Jamal and Aaron Gordon the the two guys Mike Conley has to play pretty good I agree but Anthony and Carl and Nas Reed those are the three guys who have to play well conle K puts everybody in that right place but unless those three guys play for the Timberwolves they’re not going to win especially on the road final margins uh in this series seven-point game 26 27 8 15 and 45 we looking single digits or double digits in Denver it’s going to be a it’s going to be a close game tonight okay I’ll I’ll take that uh as a guarantee against my better wishes uh when we come back first game seven at
