podcast without any further delay we’ll dive back in to the show talking about sadique Bay in player capsule stuff in Broad fashion comprehensive fashion all the Nuance all the analysis and it’s coming to you right now this is kind of a pivot to the offense but it’s a good time of transition to it in some ways there’s this debate about what position he should play and you know how I feel about positions in general they’re a little bit overblown at this point in time especially 3 four versus two three else but like the answer is both but also it matters who’s playing next to um that’s kind of where I would be with sadik and I know there’s look there are limitations to S at both positions at the three You could argue he’s too slow that’s just a very that’s a very broad thing to argue but you know what I mean like it’s laterally not the best at the four he is physically strong but he’s not he’s not explosive to the rim like he’s a below you know his rebound numbers while he is physical on the offensive glass in particular defensive rebounding is not his strength at the four I think he’s a pretty average rebounder to be kind at that spot and like also just not the longest guy like he might be I think he’s L at 67 now officially that’s not that’s not that’s not an an undersell like he might be 6667 like he’s he’s physically big but he’s not long so does it I mean obviously you have jayen that Jaylen solves a lot of problems for you and General but is there an ideal way to deploy sadique Bay to where you get the most out of him on off defense because I think on offense his shooting at the four this year kind of put to the side is really effective if you can play him there defensively but that’s kind of the problem that a lot of players have it’s like you’re probably better at the three in some ways on one end of the floor better at the four ways end of the floor it’s like what do you do with that yeah it’s it’s interesting and for me I think it’s situational right and and positional kind of thoughts are often situational I mean on the re rebounding you know you make a great point there he’s an awesome offensive rebounder for his position right just tremendous off three yeah especially at the three makes a big and you put him and jayen on together the three and the four and you’ve got some kind of some real magic there uh but for me you know you think back to the planing game a little over a year ago against Miami where like I think I think Bogi and B played like 20 straight minutes in the first like a long stretch and they just Juiced the shooting in the lineup and Miami could did not deal with that they they basically ran everything with bogy in one corner Bay in the other Corner open up all the space for Trey um and what Miami had did the prior playoffs where you know the Hawks sneaked out one tiny little win when DeAndre Hunter went off felt like 60 points in that game um but uh you know but Miami was not able to replicate that defensive scheme because the Hawks had Juiced the shooting at the three in the four and so for me if when there are teams that want to really load up on Trey playing to at the four is a great way to punish that right presuming that sadik is shooting Baseline across his whole career is what he still is and I think is it’s coming it’s I know I know um and so for me he’s he’s a great option to kind of push more shooting on the floor I getting a shooter at the three plus uh sadik at the four and in another sense you know at the three one thing that he does is you can’t keep him off the a lot of small fors in the league can’t keep especially second unit small fors cannot keep him off the with the glass and so there’s a rebounding advantage that comes on offense with him playing at the three there’s a spacing advantage that comes from playing at the four which means that it really is situational and kind of what you’re looking to do with him another thing he excels at um and and this probably is a little bit for he does have good straight line speed he switches into the court quickly in transition he knows when he needs to run to the corner versus run to the three-point break his his his spacing and transition is excellent and that matter is a ton especially when you play with Trey you know because Trey wants you in the right spot there’s a time that the corner makes there are times the corner makes sense there’s times that the three-point break makes sense um you know if Trey’s Sid can know like oh Trey’s got slow guy in front of him he’s gonna try to get to the rim I’m gonna work to the corner so he has that Baseline pass if it’s there right or oh no they’re G the this is two pretty good transition Defenders that are back there Trey going have a hard time getting to the rim that line to the three-point break is the line and so there’s there’s just again offensively a ton of nuance in what he has but he’s a guy that ideally you play it the three when that’s the right thing the team has the small three in the four Sadi go get offensive rebounds play at the four when they’re trying to load up on Trey juice the the amount of shooting you have in line and and go with it so there’s not I don’t I think the best answer is he can play both depending upon what you need at any given of time yeah I have two things off of that number one is it popped in my head while you were talking about his straight line speed uh this is I’m doing warning signs about my this this reference I’m about to make it it’s actually to to the football player um sadik is one of those guys like DK metf in in the NFL where like they’re they’re not able to flip their hips as well as other guys are but if they if you get running a straight line S can run in a straight line it’s actually it’s a great Point by you I had like I had really thought about that but like he’s not slow that way he’s slow and you know basketball wise especially like how how often are you running in a straight line in basketball not that often like you’re doing it to change ends that that that does matter but within the flow of an offensive set or defensive set you’re not really you’re sliding and you’re pivoting and like you’re doing that’s not his that’s not the best thing but it’s a good point by you that he can he can run in a straight line it’s just that it’s the other stuff where he can’t flip I’m on YouTube spinning around my uh my hips um that was one thing the other thing is I pulled this number it’s kind of the uh hilarious stereotype of what you would think about s playing the four but this is from cleaning the glass this year with B at the four on cleaning the glass the Hawks had a defensive rating of 125 this year which for everybody that doesn’t know that is horrific that’s a horrific number on offense at the four they’re at 124 which is incredible and again I’m not gonna tell you that that’s gospel because clean L positional stuff is not always what I would do for instance like it’s also kind of automated I’m just saying that’s that’s that’s exactly what you would expect in some ways for a team playing S at the four knock great defensively but really really really good on offense which we kind of say because the theory that I know Tyler was preaching on our last podcast like the theory of having enough shooting around Trey especially at the four and look they jaylen’s an X Factor that you can’t ignore like jaylen’s a different player what they had on the best iteration of the Hawks three or four years ago but the theory of Trey one one pick and roll partner and three Shooters has always worked on offense and that is another reminder of that and basically that means if s’s playing the four that means that you have Shooters everywhere on the out the center and that means their offense is really really good I know it’s like when you know Bogie’s having a rough stretch like within six weeks of this trade deadline all the Hawks fans are starting to be like we gotta trade bogy it’s like but if you want go look at the numbers go look go look at the numbers oh Bogie’s on we’ll get we’ll get to Bogie but I I mean uh if you want to hear onoff numbers bogi’s onoff numbers are hilarious like he was the Hawks were like basically a 55 win team when bogy played this year and they were like a bad team when he didn’t it was it was incredible but you yeah yeah and so and and so for me the context there is okay if we can kind of you know hang on to that and get more point of attack defense so that Boi is not ping ponging back and forth between the corner and the paint like he does as L you know this was a little preview I guess of when we do Bogi but but you know a similar kind of construct defensively but yeah I mean I mean in that Miami game I mean the Hawks smoked the heat in that playing game when they had bogie and Bon and for me he like what do the Hawks want to bring back you know do they want to how much change they wanted the wing you know I think it I think it maybe starts with those two and then you’re like okay the other people who play the position have got to be able to defend have to be able to defend right yes and you know and that’s something like they tried to squeeze a little defensive ju side at West Matthews this year at you know you know out of necessity basically out of necessity but but they need to be able to you know last three minutes of the game you’re going offense defense or whatever they got to have some options there but I for me I love the idea of Trey plus Bay plus bogie when you’re playing from behind or when you have a team that’s loading up on Trey and that kind of thing but you’ve got to have some defensive depth of that position to kind of make it holistically work Today’s have somebody that is not a regular listen to the podcast but this is going to be on brand for me uh on the positive side he actually had his best ever twoo percentage this year he was the best he’s ever been inside the arc his finishing improved this year he’s for as big and strong as he is he’s actually never been a great finisher this year was the numbers were better on that front but the way he is used is as a spot shooter for the most part on this roster not not exclusively but that’s his primary role um and coming into the season he was shooting 36% 36.1% from three and about 1,500 attempts in his career so not an elite shooter but a perfectly fine one 36% on big volume is all you need this year he shot 31.6% which is obviously not very good the big one that’s not great in itself the big one though was his Corner threes which got a lot of attention during the year including by me where that’s a shot where you need to shoot really well because that’s supposed to be the best shot in basketball most valuable shot over than a dunk basically the previous two seasons combined sadik shot 40.6% on Corner threes on pretty good Volume last year he shot 30% on Corner threes and 30% doesn’t sound like it’s that bad it is that bad on Corner threes because those are usually open shots and they’re also supposed to be high value shots that your offense is designed to make like the Hawks want to have create they want to create open threes in the corner especially when TR also there’s a discussion but the try on versus try off creation of open threes in the corners is a huge gap but anyway um he Al he was also worse than you expect on non- Corner threes too but his Corner three numbers were basically and I’m sure every Hawks fan is picturing one of those shots right now where it’s like great offensive process Drive kick open three for City and he misses it and there was a lot of that this year the closest recent comparison I would say would have been to John Collins the previous year where JN just had this awful shooting season and aside from a click capella and Miss layup nothing enrages Hawks fans more than an open three that’s missed by a power forward which happened a lot with sadik and then JN two years ago so say all that to say you referenced it earlier my my brain will not allow me to think that sadik bay is now a bad shooter uh I I do think that when he got to Atlanta was shooting 40% which is what he shot last year I was saying it at the moment like hey I’m not sure he’s this good as a shooter now I would say I I’m way more sure that he’s not this bad as a shooter so that’s a lot of numbers but what do you make of that because I think that’s probably the single biggest thing that happened this year to sadik as far as impacting winning impacting the Hawks that he he just didn’t shoot well and didn’t shoot well enough and again for the role he was in it really hurt the offense yeah it and it is funny like the way that it’s his shooting issues were perceived are are also very situational and I think sometimes fans and and F A lot of fans watch a game emotionally invest with emotional investment right it’s not really how I watch a game um for the most part but um but you know it’s you know four minutes to go the Hawks are down eight wide openen Corner three and he misses it’s like oh my K him you know and it felt like that happened over and over and over right yeah Trey Trey created this perfect shot and he just can’t get that shot to go down and that’s when the that’s when the open Corner three are as bad as they not not just the one miss for Clint the rim but like the three misses right at the rim for Clint that really drives Hawks of course yeah Miss put back put back you know you know what have you and and and that it was had I mean if it’s that frustrating for Hawks fans how frustrating do you think it was for him and and to put that into context I I I don’t know but I would guess like a Congo shot probably like at least 38% on Corner threes because he missed all but I think two of his threes above the break I put out his shot chart shot earlier this week but aanga was probably at least 8% better in the corner than sadik was that that and that tell tells you no I mean this here here’s here’s a stat put that in cont not so for Kongo but the Hawks were 21st in the League this year in corner 3 percentage which isn’t horrible but that’s not where you want to be and the only guy of their rotation that was below average on corner of Threes was sad so he he drugs you he took from like 10th to 20 that tells you like number one he he took the most on the team by a decent amount he took the most Corner threes on the roster by a decent chunk because bogy takes a lot of Threes but they’re mostly above the break bie bogie can’t get open in the corner in the way that s is um same with de jante same with Trey those guys are taking more above the Break Frees um I shouldn’t I think I might have lie yeah only the only guy who was even close to sadik in terms of missing them was Jaylen and his volume was way lower um and Jaylen isn’t supposed to be the kind of shooter sik is yet as far as a stand still shooter so I don’t I’m trying not to pile was it 10 times this here Jaylen actually clipped the side of the backboard on it yeah no and that’s one of those things and also you know there’s this whole debate and I we we have to get into it now but like sadik’s shooting form there was this thought process that he might have gotten too big this year where he couldn’t like get the same lift like a lot a lot of his misses are flat like sad does not have a huge High arching shot it’s a very flat shot which you know I’m not a shock doctor but that’s not what you would draw in a lab I wouldn’t say um but I just tend to lean look we could do an hour on this but I I just tend to believe that there there’s just not a reality where he is this bad of a shooter on Corner threes based on four or five years of if you go go back to Villanova six seven years of sample on him being a good shooter again you could depend on where his actual true Talent level is but I am very confident it’s more than 30% on corter threes yeah so for me I I’m a big believer in CID because a shooter still a big big big time believer and there’s a few things to go there number one you mention the track record number two his shot preparation and his release super efficient quick release hard to close out on him really and all of that shows up in the amount of gravity you have the amount of spacing you provide other other Defenders you can’t get far from Sadi because you’re knock you are not going to get back to him if you let him catch the ball in pocket and get to his shots and all of that matters like that’s that’s another way when Gallow was on the team like you you just couldn’t get this no one could get Gallow shot he was shoot it over you so I mean you know so that that’s just is and sadik has he’s not as as as tall as Gallow but similar Concept in this sh it’s hard to close out of him because he’s so efficient and he’s so quick kind of getting his shot up I’m a I’m a big believer uh in sadik as a shooter it’ll be interesting to see like how does this knee injury change him some injuries always change you some sometimes it’s just a little bit sometimes it’s it’s more than a little bit you know Deon hasn’t been the same Defender since he had that uh you know knee injury was about four years ago now or whatever he’s never kind of gotten back to that level too and I personally think you that’s likely attributable to that injury so this be interesting to see but I’m a big believer that sadik is excellent for what Quinn wants he’s you know Quinn wants that 0.5 DEC he’s a quick processor he makes decisions and I love that he drives the basketball even though U before this past year driving really wasn’t you know one of his kind of Premium skills and he made himself better first of all just being willing to go in and Embrace contact is is huge um to add value to your ability to kind of drive and attack the paint and attack the rim if when if and when the Hawks can kind of get back to being a quasi serious or better playoff team someone being willing to drive the paint and go get contact is super valuable in a playoff context it’s incredibly valuable in that sense and so I I think you know I’m very hopeful for the Hawks that he’ll be back because he just plays so hard he was turning the corner on defense I think they do um add more point of attack defense which is going to help simplify what you ask of sque and then he’s just a guy that you know you’re down 10 points in the fourth quarter you roll bogy and day out at the three and the four and you know you got a chance to got really kind of do some work kind of coming back and I and I think this year if you go back and look at when Jaylen went down with that injury against the Wizards and then that was when they really started to seem to be asking sad to drive a lot more um and it wasn’t really it’s important to know I don’t think it was just sadik Quinn wants them to break the paint with the basketball when when the defense is over leverag right really sadique really embraced that like really really embraced that and I think that CA some of his shooting issues I think he was leaning into okay we have to be able to put the shot up plus the attack the clothes out break the paint kick the ball and the defense collapses or go there’s a you know a um a compromised Defender go get that contact or whatever it is and for me I think he was just embracing the full spectrum of what Quinn wants from their offall players catch 0.5 it make the decision and go and I think it was just different you know for him and then when jayen was down there was literally literally no one else that could could do that until V started playing and then v v could do that but um but for me I just think that he was adapting to what Quinn wants from those wings and it was a period of change for him and I think that affected his shooting Rhythm and but I’m I’m a huge believer in sadik I think he adds a ton of value I think a guy who can you know be a dominant rebounder offensive rebounder at the three plus be a dominant you know a really really good Force baser at the four and you can kind of help him be more functional defensively through lineup construction I think you know I hope he’s back and for my first hope is I hope he gets paid you know I don’t know what that looks like we’ll talk about that in a second but for me I think he just adds so much to lineups that trades in today’s show is brought to you by prize piix again on the playoff action with 100 times of negative way like he’s not a specialist three-point shooter he takes a lot of Threes but you reference it we’ve all talked about a little bit on this podcast but he actually had the highest percentage of his shot this year at The Rim he’s kind of early in his Detroit tenure he was he made Pistons fans crazy because he took a lot of mid-rangers and like it was kind of more of a primary it wasn’t necessarily his fault they was he was on some bad bad bad Pistons teams and he was asked to do a lot on offense I think his best role was kind of the one he was in this year where it’s it’s threes or it’s attack the rim he’s not going to settle a lot of 15f Footers he’s not creating a ton for himself or others but like he also that’s not a problem especially when you you don’t turn the ball over so like he’s a he’s a pretty low assist player but he’s also a very low turnover player which is fine that means you’re just you’re you’re not you’re not making mistakes you’re swinging the ball when you to swing it he’s not a huge creative passer but the combination of what should be three-point shooting that’s at least you have to be guarded out there be a to be able to get to the line which we talked about earlier be able to get to the rim which he did a lot more this year and then not make mistakes like he’s he’s a valuable offensive player I I’ve always believed that I as sort of transition to the future I think that and I’ve I’ve said it since he got here honestly but I even more believe it now again unfortunately for him because of the because of the KNE everything else but I think sadik’s best role on a pretty good team is going to be as like a seventh man like I I don’t think he’s a starter on a good team I I don’t maybe he can be maybe he can be your fifth starter I’m not saying he couldn’t be that if you had four really good players and kind of a drop off but I think that generally speaking he would be better as a supporting player but by the way seventh men on good teams make 105 million a year like that that’s a that’s a real role in the NBA that everybody needs everybody needs guys who are 68 67 forwards with bulk like I don’t I don’t want to call him a two-way player because his defense is what it is but it it’s he he’s verging on that two-way for that everybody wants he’s not quite there defensively but like a lot of teams can do could could use what city can give them that’s why the Hawks traded for him is that that idea of enough shooting at the forward spots and enough physicality to hold up defensively it’s a very valuable skill set even if I think he’s more of a bench player but I don’t mean that in a pajora of sense like that’s still a very valuable role and I think long term like yeah you pencil Jaylen into one of the forward spots you don’t want s to be your other starting forward I don’t think but if he’s your third or fourth forward you’re in good shape yeah or I mean depending upon roster in line of construction and kind of where you are in kind of in the Journey of that you know if he’s starting it next year with Jaylen comes off comes off four minutes in gets back on the court with bogy to help Kobe if Kobe’s leading the second unit offense to put more shooting into that context so I mean also fans also significantly um overvalue whether a guy starts or doesn’t start age yeah um and so but but but I agree like if the Hawks are able to kind of get up say two tiers in the next two years somehow sadik’s probably not you know likely not a starter in that context yeah but still a critically important guy that can kind of give you unique things uh depending on what position he’s playing and and I you know I I I’m hopeful he’s back because I think he just led by example so much with what Quin was asking his players to do this year as much as anyone um and I just think that that stuff matters in the lock room it matters to developing trust in kind of the plan the coaching plan has kind of you know rolling out and stealing and trying to ingrain in the team I just you know I think that that that matters you know a lot yeah and you know this is not the the point of these capsules is not to talk about contracts up a ton that’s not what your specialty is or that you want to be but it’s obviously lingering that sque’s a free agent he’s going to be restricted if they a qualifying offer which isn’t 100% to happen I think that they will probably offer him a qualifying offer but it’s not an absolute lock like it would be for some guys because of the injury preinjury I would have told you it was an absolute lock he was gonna get a qualifying offer and then we’ll see yeah now we don’t know um he just turned 25 so he’s still relatively young um he wasn’t he was a super young draft prospect but you know four years in this is kind of his his prime contract you would imagine you know a age 25 to 29 kind of range if he gets a four-year deal there’s a lot of there’s a lot of variants here like you know again it’s not a totally lost season next year but the consensus is like there’s no way he’s going to be able to help a team before optimistically January February and it might be longer than that we we just don’t know acl’s are not as bad as they used to be that’s a good thing but uh everybody reacts differently it could be a whole year we we just don’t know it’s still it’s still very early in the process but you gotta take that take that into account like if you’re the Hawks or any team if you’re trying to give sadique a contract it makes more sense to give him a four-year deal and kind of act like year one is kind of a wash and you’re hoping to maybe get some value on the back end if you’re sadique you’d rather get on the market when you’re healthy again in a year or two but you may not have that option you got offer sheets just to so everybody knows this that is no way to know if the Hawks offer the qualifying offer they can match any offer sheet that comes in I don’t think there’s a scenario now maybe I’m maybe I’ll be surprised where some team comes in with a huge offer given the injury and the way he played this year I’d be I’d be surprised um there was that you know again pre-injury they didn’t extend him last year they talked about extension I think sadik side wanted a lot of money and that made sense on some level like he was a guy who was a former top 20 pick who had played a lot of minutes and played well he was asking I don’t want to throw out numbers but he was asking for a considerable contract the Hawks were offering him a real deal that would have made some sense but they couldn’t find the common ground that happens a lot it’s not a big deal unfortunately for sadik the injury I think he’s going to get less than he was going to get that’s just the way it is it sucks for everybody involved but it’s just what it is I don’t really know yet and I’ve been trying to find out what the range might be because the injury just adds so much uncertainty but there is a real scenario as well where the Hawks offer from a qualifying offer he just signs it and it’s it’s eight it’s eight8 or9 million for this year that’s a real number and then on the player side if you feel like you’re going to be able to prove yourself at some point then you become a free agent that’s not restricted next year and then you can go wherever you want to so it will a lot a lot will depend on where the Hawks are on this like how bad do they want him to come back I know Quinn we talked about it Quinn likes Sid a lot they did this front office proactively traded for sadik in a way that a lot of the roster this front office didn’t go get you know sadik’s on the short list of guys that they’ve actually went out and like waved their arms The Landry group that be like this is a guy we wanted enough to trade for you would imagine that’s still the case they like that they like him but I just want to paint the picture like it’s a really really wide range of outcomes then you throw in the tax stuff that the Hawks have always I’m not saying they are gonna this year but the tax have the Hawks have to this point avoided the tax and if sadik requires a deal that pays him eight figures a year that gets that throws in another wrench and things too so I know I’ve said a lot of words there Glenn but it really is a lot of us it’s uh uncertain is the at the very least it’s is very uncertain when it comes to City’s M contract and where he’ll be yeah yeah it’s for me it’s interesting because I I I would guess they do offer qualifying offer me too but I think I I’m Cur I’s just say I’m curious if sadik with his reps will ride that out a long time to see how the Hawks roster comes together because if he signs that qualifying offer and the Hawks stack up the wing position I think he has to asked himself am I going to freaking play when I’m back you know and if they dra they draft a wing at the top of the draft by chance right if V comes back and he’s in the rotation plus is Hunter back that I mean so for me I think if if they make the qualifying offer I think he might really ride that out to see how the roster constructions becomes together because if he needs to be on a team that’s going to let him play in the second half of January February March April or whatever whatever the timeline ends up being in order to set himself up for a good contract next year and if the Hawks are you know stacking at the wing position it might he might look at that and go I’m not sure I’m going to play enough you know if I kind of come back but so I think it might be a thing where they really their side of things they might really really Rite it out yeah like I said the range is so wide and you know part of the unfortunate part about about restricted free agency is that you some guys get to Mid July and there’s just nothing out there for them and it’s and then you’re in this terrible spot where the team they can bring you back they know you they have you over a barrel and you know that’s that there’s those almost almost a second negotiation it actually happened to Clint that’s my my go-to example is Clint in Houston did sence like I mean August September like and darl M is darl M he’s he’s cold calculating the personal side is not really coming to the mix with Daryl mury in the way that like you know I’ve always said this but you know Travis schlink was a very like kumaya executive um I think Landry tends to that direction as well they’re not going to be the Hardo the way that Daryl mury was but Clinton ended up on this bargain contract in Houston because there was no market and Houston knew it and the Hawks did the exact opposite with John Collins where they didn’t squeeze him and they probably could have and they didn’t so anyway I I don’t know how they’re going to play it I don’t know how we don’t have a ton of Intel right now one little wrinkle that I should at least say out loud is that this this applies to sadik and V and I guess West Matthews and Seth Lundy and whoever but especially Sadi and beat in the new CBA you are allowed to negotiate with your incumbent team as soon as the finals are over like the day after it’s it’s an it’s a baseball style rule where like you had this window where you could only talk to your own team and it’s going to be like two weeks plus where you can only talk to your own team now it will kind of surprise me if sadique signs a multi-year deal on that window because of all the uncertainty we just talked about maybe he would I think V is just logically V’s more likely to have that contract kind of happen in that range I think but it’s just something to keep an eye on um we could get news about sadik in a way that doesn’t usually happen fact hasn’t happened in my entire life covering the league it’s like he could theoretically sign at least agree to a deal before the draft which is it’s just this interesting wrinkle this year yeah yeah Ian there’s a lot of it could be like a one plus one with a decent buy out on you know second year or you know right so there’s a lot of different my PR my prediction my Layman novice prediction is they make a qualifying offer and he takes that thing all the way maybe even to August maybe it it would not surprise me I think that’s a very very reasonable prediction uh because I I don’t look at we both said it I’m rooting for sadik to get paid I like sadik you never want guys Financial Security to be impacted because of the injury it just sucks but I I I do think that I don’t see a team that’s super natural to come over the top of some major offer I think that you might see a team with like the mid-level kind of money around there to offer that sque the Hawks might match that I mean I would love to know it wouldn’t be the top of my list but it would be in my top five or six um true Serum with Tony Landry like what are you willing to go to on sad like if it came down to it where you willing to go and we won’t know that the answer on that but uh the most recent time the Hawks have gotten into this will they won’t they on a free agent on a guy was their own guy was Tim arway Jr and they ultimately let him go but it was because New York made an offer that was like seen pretty widely as like kind of insane um and they wanted they wanted to bring they wanted to bring Tim back they were they were playing to bring bring him back and it was basically like all right we’re gonna bring you back to him unless someone makes a crazy offer insert crazy offer and they let him go um yeah that heart hard contract was like the last maybe the last of like remember that those two years the Nets were giving a lot of money to Tyler Johnson and Alan Crow and you know and then there was a thj and it feels like I don’t know if we’ve seen another one quite like that since then well no I mean I was gonna say the Hawks the Hawks ended up stealing bogey from Sacramento on a deal that looked looks fantastic now it’s it’s now now it’s over but like that was one where the whole league was like what are the Kings doing just match it like what are they doing and they and they for some reason didn’t match it and it worked out great for the Hawks so a lot of it is team specific it’s roster specific you I’m glad you brought it up about like what if the Hawks end up rounding out their forward room before this you know Hunter is a trade candidate for sure but he’s there making a lot of money right now you got V probably coming back on a decent size something um yeah if they were to draft Ron Holland or they would have draft Modis or they would have draft Rees aay those are all forwards you put in that room and you could never have too many forwards as we found out this year Glen you can’t have too many forwards because didn’t have enough and then and then and then what does G next year right you got moay for sure another guy that they like a lot obviously um so yeah it could get really really busy I don’t envy sadik’s agent right now he’s got a lot of work to do um but in the end you know the human side of things and we’re often at least I’m often uh not I don’t talk enough about this but like I hope sadique gets paid I I do uh it’s not about rooting for guys like you’re supposed to be objective and I am like I’ll tell you if I think the deal is bad or good for the Hawks that’s my job but just humans I hope C gets gets some money and some security obviously he’s made some money in his career he’s the first round pick but like this second contract is supposed to be when you really kind of set your family up for for Life almost and I think if without the injury I would have been telling you st was gonna make 60 70 million do and I don’t know if that’s going to be the case on this deal so we’ll see we shall see yeah but yeah I’m mov for him too so he’s fun yeah he was a fun I think he was one of the more fun players this year despite the the the difficulty shooting I enjoyed watching him uh just play hard and attack the paint and do things that Quin was asking him to do so shooting hiside I still think he was one of the more enjoyable kind of players this year for the Hawks yeah if he just shot his normal his normal percentages this year from three I think people would have a different tone on sadik that I understand that too between that and the injuries and uh very similar to John a year ago all right Glenn we’ve managed to go an hour as we always do somehow by K we talked for an hour uh anything you want to uh share I know you got podcast and things that uh please feel free the floor is yours to plug things at the end of the podcast yeah I always want to say supports guys at P Tre Hoops um aail on 29 we got to get you back over there some before too long Brad I’m ready I I I have a I have a I have a confirmation in a message somewhere that Kevin uh I’m waiting to be I’m I’m gonna make Kevin come on the on my podcast but I’m waiting for the perfect moment I don’t know what I’m gonna ask him but he’s gonna he’s gonna have to say yes’s he’s gonna have to he’s committed I well Kevin needs to come over here because Tyler and I don’t want him talk his own podcast over there enough so somebody’s gota give him the chance to talk um so yeah check out the podcast and you find me on Twitter or X whatever we’re calling it now at will centers scor Glenn um and and yeah so I mean I I’m still learning more about this draft class and like I think I’m like last time we talked I think I was at 80% I’m maybe 82% done now I have M time since we were last time but we’re making some progress uh there and uh so yeah it should be a fun five and a half weeks till we get to the draft it sure will it’s going to be full steam ahead roller coaster between now on the draft but thank you Glenn for being here we will do more of these at some point I know folks want to just draft all the time and I get it but there’s a long way to go between now and then so we’ll we’ll we’ll sprinkle Glenn just a little in little tidbit in between now and the draft and Beyond so thanks for being here Glenn as always please subscribe to this podcast please subscribe to me till 29 all that fun stuff and we’ll see you all next time

  1. Brad, if Murray is traded could Hunter function at the two? Could we shift Hunter, Johnson down a position so that we are bigger across the board providing that we address the starting PF position? Hunter, although a bigger player, is similar offensively to Caldwell-Pope; off ball offense, catch n shoot, defense first. Would he/we benefit from a move like that?
