Castle is such an interesting prospect. Coming out of high school. I had him number one on my big board but viewed him as a slashing, aggressive, scoring combo guard whose biggest question marks were his shooting, a tendency to get blinders on sometimes and get tunnel vision, and ironically his defense

Seeing how dramatically he improved on that in a smaller volume role this year was nothing short of shocking. He was arguably the best defensive freshman in the entire country And really showed how unselfish and intelligent he could be on offense sliding into a low volume role seamlessly

If I’m the Spurs and I’m drafting him, I’m not just drafting him for his plus size, and his tenacious defense, I’m drafting him because he has showed a level of versatility, flexibility, and growth that hints at a really high processing ability and work ethic.

That doesn’t mean he’s going to magically turn into a great shooter or a true point guard, but again this kid was nothing near this level of defender in high school. He obviously has a lot going on between the ears and a drive to improve.

I know some people are very worried about his shooting and it’s a real concern but sometimes certain guys just have intangibles, and things that don’t show up on the stat sheet That really really do matter when trying to project where they could go in their development and Castle definitely seems to have a lot of those positive attributes in spades

Some of this is just straight disrespectful. He and Sochan would give teams fits on the perimeter funneling into Wemby. I’m a believer.

Kinda reminds me of a guard version of SDSU Kawhi defensively
