Beat the upstart 50-win OKC. Swept the 53-win Deron/Boozer Jazz. Got Kobe’s revenge on the 54-win Nash/Amare Suns. Won the rematch in 7 games against the Big 4 Celtics (who eliminated 3 of the Top 4 players at that time in Wade, LeBron, and Dwight). The last non-super team to win back to back titles

This was really the key to winning chips. Unless you’re ultimately stacked like wade bosh and bron all in thier primes you can get away with vet min bench. We had kobe a solid 1# pau a solid #2 a 6man in lamar and solid role players. Fisher was never an all star caliber player but I would trust him to his that shot. Bynum was coming into his own.

Lakers recreated this formula 10 years later then ruined it with the Westbrook trade and now are working with limited assets after only trading for one of their actual stars

  4. Didn’t the lakers make playoffs the following year, swept by the Mavs, proceed to blow it up by trading for a star name Dwight and and aging pg name Nash. It’s literally the same playbook after winning the championship in 2020, lost to the suns and proceeded to blow everything up for a star name WB and aging player like Melo.
