  1. If these guys came to 2024 in a Time Machine and swapped places with the current Bron/AD, LAL beats this Denver team in 5 and probably Minnesota in 6 and the rest of their opponents in 5

Not far fetched to say that when you still had a more perimeter oriented Bron that could guard opposing SF’s and a younger spry AD that was putting shooting splits up close to KD.
Minny wouldn’t have been able to contain that

While both are still elite, this was the last year besides 2021 where both were top 5 players in the league no doubt. AD was hitting those levels during the Denver series this year and Bron was amazing but due to his age he wasn’t able to sustain that level 40 min like he used too. We desperately need a 3rd star if we want to compete but it’s hard because we would have zero depth if we got a 3rd star. I am a Lakers homer through and through but if we can’t address more size and getting our defense up we will be a play in team again.

The Russ trade f’d up this damn team and the LeBron + AD duo

    AD Career Playoff 3PT Makes:

    2015: 0-2
    2018: 6-22
    **2020: 23-60**
    2021: 2-11
    2023: 5-15
    2024: 0-5

This is why Ham asked AD to take 6 threes per game this season.  Everything is better when AD is a three point shooter. A three point shooting center significantly enhances the effectiveness of the 5-out offense that the Lakers were running, but AD stubbornly refused, and Ham got fired.

AD should be criticized more for not shooting.  It hurt spacing, it limited the 5-out offense, and it hamstrings LeBron if his center doesn’t shoot threes.

They were both completely different players back then

Man. AD really doesn’t look anything like this anymore, and that’s the bigger point for me. For Bron, obviously he’s a lot older.

But those injuries really took a toll on AD and I’m not sure he’ll ever be this player again. He’s still within the “window” of his prime rn, technically. But we don’t see this energy and intensity out of him much anymore. And his shooting is just nowhere near this good.
