8-year span with the first six winning at least one Championship during that run and the path for the Celtics has opened up every active MVP has been eliminated making this the first postseason with no active MVPs among the final four teams since the award was created nearly 60 years ago the Celtics meanwhile open is the second largest favorite in a Conference Final in the last 35 years the lines have moved right now they’re the fifth largest favorite Shannon sharp yesterday on first take had this to say about Boston their window shopping greatness when are you going to go in and purchase it when are you going to go in and be about it so I don’t want to hear anything oh Jason Tatum can be the face of the league I don’t want to hear nothing and he’s so young he’s 25 and he’s already gone to this many conference finals he’s been to the NBA finals at some point in time you got to kick the door in and go inside and that there are no excuses I don’t want to hear nothing if they do not win the championship this year it is a failure of Epic Proportion two things window shopping greatness is my new favorite statement of all time second Allan is he right no he’s not right window shopping greatness is a great line but it’s been on layway for the the Celtics and for Jason Tatum that’s just the way it is right now he’s 25 years old I mean he is already getting started and I just feel like what pressure is on any man that win or lose $315 million is waiting for you this summer regardless of what happened no no no no but all these guys are rich a no all these guys are rich if if not now when Shannon happens to be million Shannon happens to be 100% right this is is an epic failure if the Celtics don’t win the championship this year you cannot that’s a different conversation Celtics versus Tatum is are two different conversations he’s talking about Tatum kicking the door down the Celtics as an organization yes that’s also Joe Missoula that’s Brad Stevens that’s other guys on that team as well that is the pressure but on individually on Jason Tatum we can’t put him in the category of LeBron James I don’t even think he has the it factor that Luca donic has he has had 50.7 game sevens he’s had 40 point game sixes to save the season he’s also had game threes where he fumbles away the series down 02 when you’re like dude you’re the best player on the team you got to carry the team maybe he’s just not that guy he’s a great player but not a super like that level kind of hold on a second he’s First Team all NBA he’s an MVP candidate people want to make listen if he’s not all those things it’s not for people not wanting to make him all of those things does Jason Tatum need to put this team on his back and carry them to a championship for sure it starts with him if we’re looking at this from a team aspect then it would be an epic failure this is the easiest road that you could possibly have to going to a championship and winning and competing with that being said we can’t hold Jason only to this level and and not put the same on Luca or put the same on I guess an emerging ant a Devon Booker some of these other guys that we said are the new faces of the league I think Tatum sometimes is a product of his own greatness we’ve gotten so used to this team being so good and going to the Conference Finals competing that now if they don’t win a championship it’s a failure we also got to understand uh understand that uh Shannon’s a little bit of a Laker fan too there so there’s there’s a little bit something there there’s too much energy on that had a little too much new genics that day I mean he was all fire kicking doors down but that’s but you know what you know what what who does that Champions do that the Celtics can’t just play around you use that expression all the time play with their food you think the teams that wind up winning championships do they behave that way or do they go out there when the road has been cleared for them it is like they’ve rolled out the red carpet for the South wants kick the door down right now I I just think everyone here well Monica hasn’t made her point so I don’t know exactly how Monica feels however we have put the Celtics this Celtics team from this season Head and Shoulders above every other team why because of their regular season performance who do they have during the regular season that they do not have right now Christ porz krists porzingis if Kristof porzingis does not return to the lineup and play especially in the finals it is not an epic failure think about who they could face in the finals whether it’s Dallas or whether it’s Minnesota what do both of those teams have size bigs kristofh spingus if he’s in the lineup and he’s healthy and he’s good to go I would consider it possibly a fa if he’s back they need chrisop porzingis listen this is where we don’t do this on Sports television but there’s Nuance for this in this to me personally I don’t I’m with you I don’t think Jason Tatum is under a ton of pressure I think the Celtics as an organization 60 wins the beaten teams by 11 points uh per game during the regular season the largest margin of victory all of the things are align the nuggets are out of the way the Celtics organization is under pressure singularly I’m not sure that it’s follow Jason why but they need Pingus to win if he’s healthy if he’s good to go like I’m sure if it’s supposed to be game three game three but we don’t know what he’s going to look like so I hear yall I hear I hear you but let’s see what he looks like first and then judge from there hold on one second Monica we demand things from superstars in the NBA you want to be a person who was considered in that category of player if you’re not going to be that then that’s fine but if you’re to be if you’re going to fulfill the destiny it seems he has had from the second he stepped on campus at Duke as a freshman and carried that team into the NCAA tournament everything else that he did then that this is the next step it’s the only thing he hasn’t done and frankly some of the times they haven’t done it it has felt like it was because of him so to what these two just said without porzingis where do you fall like this is what this is why I’m saying they’re playing Indiana in the next round I agree with you but I don’t know that it is personally going to be on Jason Tatum if Jason Tatum has a monster series and porzingis is not right then what’s the conversation if Jason Tatum has a Monster Series they’re not going to lose there’s no way in the world anyone beats this team if Jason Tatum has a monster series did that against the Bucks that’s what he did against the Bucks game six on the road season on the line there that’s the thing with him that’s the tease about Jason Tatum that we’ve been dealing with is what is he is he at the level of the best in the game when we look at what he can do in those moments but I also look at last season’s playoffs and I saw a guy that would and I actually this year in this year’s playoffs a guy that would prefer to take a step back three instead of put his head down beat his man off the dribble and attack bigs he won’t do that a lot of the times and that’s why you wonder is he missing just that one little it factor in those big moments that if he’s not knocking down those step back threes that that’s he can’t do anything more than that that’s what I wonder we are we are elevating him maybe to a standard that I don’t know if he should be at that’s the question well I mean that that maybe that is the point but if he’s not going to be at that level then I think a lot of us have to rewrite the narrative that we’ve had on him for long time right I mean Jason Tatum is supposed to be one of the truly elite players in this league and I believe he is he I mean I agree that he is so it’s time for him to do this right I mean it it it I think I think Shannon actually said it reasonably well they’ve been too close too many times not to finally get over about LeBron James now 2009 Cav 66 wins lost in the Conference Finals to a magic team they had no business losing to we had that question about LeBron James but the only question about LeBron James that that point was is he ever going to win a championship 27 years old the first time he won a championship so he had to wait while he also had to go to another team we don’t have to worry about that or have that conversation about Tatum because we’re in a different world now Tatum’s not wondering can I win in Boston I might want to go somewhere else like LeBron was that’s what 09 opened the door for that’s what started 2010 they didn’t win an 09 and he was wondering can I win here in Cleveland Tatum will never wonder that in Boston if there’s pressure on anyone it’s Dr yeah yeah 100% if there’s pressure on anyone that’s cuz everyone is no one no players are going to no they’re going to lose the players that they have on this team they’re not going to lose any of those players Joe’s not going nowhere though if they lose this year I don’t think he’s going anywhere he’s regarded as one of the most talented young basketball mins in NBA absolutely he’s I mean look look I I I defer to your expertise I remember a lot of people were very critical of him last year and felt that the reason when they lost to Miami I heard a lot of people say if e Oka had still been the coach of that team they would have been in the final tough of a be go behind the bench and then be at the Helm of the Celtics no one’s aru pressure it’s also an opportunity right I mean it is both a tough situation but it is also done well though he’s he’s done well but with the nature of the NBA and the way coach get rid of coaches I think if anybody feels I don’t think the players feel as much pressure as the head coach and just with the landscape of the absolutely specific situation and then never mind the media coverage in Boston too that that’s going to get real real hot I think it’s brutal I think it’s more brutal for the head coaches but to her point if if pringus is not playing it it’s it’s a huge factor I mean they better hope they play Dallas then if they beat Indianapolis they better hope because if they play Minnesota without porzingis they they’re not winning that Ser how many I mean I yes basketball we’ve all watched porzingis be the Difference Maker but like so the Celtics potentially get to the finals again and lose again like they lose again like how many times you get to the finals to keep losing well that I mean now I you’re finally coming around to my side of this I for that’s what I’m saying for me though it’s a Celtics pressure I just don’t know if I feel like it’s solely on Jason T like Jaylen Brown is his right hand man and he needs to be able to show up as well got 300 million it does it doesn’t have to all be about don’t talk about that’s what I thank you are the Celtics better than the Pacers yes are they better than the timber wolves Pacers I don’t know I I think they are we don’t know that know I wouldn’t say definitely the way they play defense the way that Minnesota plays defense the way they can defend man I mean I mean I’m just looking at the numbers on my screen the Celtics Las Vegas considers the Celtics a prohibitive favorite to win the championship because they ran Rampage through the entire NBA All Season because R the christops porzingis like like all you’re not wrong but like y’all going keep getting to y’all can keep window shopping greatness without your seven C I hear you the Knicks ain’t have half their roster they out so what we talking about we’re not talking about the Knicks saying I hear you on the injuries things but like this is the Celtics that have been there a gazillion times it all starts tonight we’ll see what happens
