The Boston Celtics defeated the Indiana Pacers 133-128, to take a 1-0 series lead in the Eastern Conference Finals. Jayson Tatum led the Celtics with 36 points, 12 rebounds, and 4 assists while Jrue Holiday (28 points, 7 rebounds, and 8 assists) and Jaylen Brown (26 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists) totaled 54 points. Tyrese Haliburton led the Pacers with 25 points and 10 assists as Pascal Siakam (24 points, 12 rebounds, 7 assists) and Myles Turner (23 points, 10 rebounds) added 47 points. Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals will take place on Thursday, May 23 (8:00 p.m. ET, ESPN).

This is the first time in Boston’s franchise history where three players totaled 25+ points in a Conference Finals game. Since the 1970-71 season (first season with Eastern and Western conferences), it’s just the ninth time it’s happened in a Conference Finals game ever.
Jayson Tatum – 36 PTS, 12 REB, 4 AST
Jrue Holiday – 28 PTS, 7 REB, 8 AST
Jaylen Brown – 26 PTS, 7 REB, 5 AST

Pascal Siakam joined Paul George as the only players in Pacers history with 25+ PTS, 10+ REB, and 5+ AST in a Conference Finals game. George did so on May 30, 2013, in a loss v the Miami Heat (27 PTS, 11 REB, 5 AST).

  1. These celtics softies managed to barely scrape through because they got 20 more free throws and the pacers had more turnovers towards the end. Even if these Celtics bums somehow make it to the finals they are going to get stomped.

  2. Absolutely TERRIBLE shot at the end of regulation.. Very selfish play & cost them the game.

  3. Indiana bungled this but I also want to point out the huge discrepancy in FTAs – 30 for Boston and 10 for Indiana … just saying

  4. As a Celtics fan the crowd chanting MVP for Tatum and not brown is Criminal. Honestly Brown has consistently bailed us out over the years in the playoffs because when brown is off Tatum will shrink sometimes in the 4th we need both of them to he consistently on or one or the other but both can’t be off because that’s when what happened to us with the Warriors happens.

  5. If I have to pic Jaylen Brown or Jayson Tatum, I'll choose the clutch one which is Brown Tatum looking like a second option and always flustered in the final minutes

  6. Haliburton should pass the ball, instead of having a three why would he not try to pass it to make a 2 point shot with his teammates, selfish play
