Family says Hornets star LaMelo Ball drove over her son’s foot, sues player and team | WSOC-TV

it’s been rough it’s been real rough only on nine this mother is suing the Charlotte Hornet star lamelo ball and the team she tells action n that fans were trying to get the star’s autograph but he drove off quickly right over her son’s foot now she claims that the team should have done more to keep fans safe during their event actionized Jason steni spoke exclusively with that family and he joins us now at the Spectrum Center in uptown Jason yeah well Scott right here’s the lawsuit and right here behind me is the spot where the family says the incident allegedly [Music] happened Angel Joseph is whistling now but his mother says over the past few months happiness has been in short supply when you see your children hurt it hurts you she says last October 7th after a Charlotte Hornets event fans were outside the arena going up to players as they left he was like Lelo I love you sign my you know sign my My Autograph you know give me your autograph she says ball did not sign anything and drove off I just seen my son kind of go down I thought maybe he had dropped something but she says angel had not dropped anything that ball had driven over his foot breaking it she told me her son has spent months recovering in more ways than once for a while I couldn’t even recognize who my child was because I mean like depression not being able to go outside and play this is his hero um you know his Idol uh and he got run over by him their lawyer Cameron de Brun says Angel’s family would have filed a claim with Ball’s Insurance to pay his medical bills but the police report is missing key information like balls insure and even his name because that information was was not provided we only have one recourse and that’s the court system are they just going after him because he’s a celebrity and he has Deep Pockets is that what’s going on here I’d say if that was the case we would have done this a long time ago you know they had no desire to seek legal action they wanted healing they were also suing the Hornets that day was the team’s annual purple and teal day and the family claims that the team should have had more measures in place to protect fans who would be trying to get close to players it’s been rough it’s been real rough I mean like I’m a strong person but this broke me this this this right here it really did now obviously I emailed the Hornets for a response I’m also trying to get in touch with balls agent for a response from that side as well we’re live uptown Jason St jeny Channel 9 Eyewitness News temperature down 80
