NBA Gametime reacts to Indiana Pacers dominate New York Knicks 130-109 to advance to East Finals

up the playoff Central live presented by AT&T Chris Miles here with Smitty and Smitty if we try to break down every part of this game as we wait for players and coaches to come to the podium you got to look back at the Pacers shooting and what they were able to accomplish I mean flat out like you said Chris um no matter what in this game you got to Marvel how they knock down shots it was a depleted underman I mean just tired New York but the Pacers these were not a lot of layups these were jump shots and threes it was a phenomenal shooting display and I think they just wore down the New York dicks they just had nothing left so give them a lot of credit the way they played um but I I take my hat off to that whole Nick organization the way they came out and competed and fought yeah something you said in the pregame was all right Tyrese halberton he’s got to come and look to score 14 points in the first quarter four for five from three-point range there something else you pointed out when TJ McConnell stepped on the floor and started to find him the Pacers really found their offensive yeah you know seum is the guy that that that’s their probably their score that’s their most I would say guy the experienced score but you know he’s a guy that plays off play players he’s not a guy that’s going to go get it oneon-one and create his own and then Ben Maan is out and people forget about him so they needed Tyrese halberton to be ultra aggressive as a shooter but it’s so hard when you’re a point guard you’re trying to set guys up also score for yourself but when TJ McConnell was in the game it took that away from him that responsibility of being that leader that point guard he can just flat out just let it go and shoot it and he did that in that first quarter and throughout that game as as needed when they needed big buckets he knocked down big buckets I mean the Pacers offense yes 67% from the field for the game is incredible but in the first half Smitty they missed a total of just nine shots and shot 76% from the field that’s unheard of well I think um they just wore down the Nicks because if you can see Halton is the guy right now is he’s off the ball and when he’s off the ball he’s getting a chance to be able to knock down shots pump fake one of the best moves in basketball learned that from the great Isaiah Thomas but you see him right now the movement by the entire Pacers team and especially Halbert and him being able to move without the basketball most point guards don’t know how to do that when they don’t have it in their hand they stand and then for me this was one of the big shots for him this is a big time mid-range jump shot and is crowded on that side he still rolls up and knock down a difficult shot for him don’t see a lot of mid-range jumpers and then this one right here you can see divon chinzo being able to Hawk him but just that slight Look Away by divon chinzo to look at seak going to go help made a mistake leaves him wide open and he set the tone knocking down shots with the Indiana Pacers in his game seven in his first game sevens kudos to Tyrese halberton he was not scared and he was Ultra aggressive yeah made six of the teams 13 three-pointers Tyrese Halton came out on the Mission making four of his first five looking at the Pacers and thinking of the organization from where they were when they start to rebuild right and they’re like okay we’re going to move on from Paul George couple of down years they have sa bonus and they go we’re going to get our guy Tyrese halberton to where they are now headed to the Eastern Conference Finals huge win for them it is and this is one time in the history of the NBA I mean there’s some few but it worked out for both organizations Sacramento and the Pacers and I think the addition of Rick Carlile and also the flexibility of Rick Carlile if You’ have told me the Indiana Pacers team would play like this under Rick Carl out have said no but he has adjusted and letting these guys get up and down and that’s their strength give a lot of credit to TJ McConnell give a lot of credit for those guys coming off the bench the way they approach the game and they’re connected group yeah this team is is one that put up points throughout the entire regular season you go okay highest scoring team in the NBA but when it comes to the playoffs can they do it they kind of answered that call especially in this game seven putting 130 on the board I mean that’s a commitment to be in shape to be a to run continuously like that throughout 82 game series season and then also com in this playoffs and this is the second round and they’re still pushing the basketball led by TJ led by Tyrese halberton but it doesn’t work if you don’t have guys like Obi toppen and Pascal seum and Miles Turner who wants to run the floor NIMH har n Smith all those guys have contributed I I just love the way they play yeah Jaylen Brunson uh we heard in the fourth quarter out with a fractured hand and you go okay so Jaylen Brunson OG Obi who played just the five first five minutes of the game didn’t look right Julius Randle Mitchell Robinson a buan bogdanovich for the Knicks was it just a fact of attrition by the time we got to the end of the it was Chris also add Josh Hart wasn’t Josh Hart I mean he played he gut he gutted through this game but I would say he was at 40% 50% so naming all those guys and also not having Josh hard and then not finish the game with Jaylen Brunson this was just a matter of time they weren’t going to be able to beat the Pacers yes so for the Pacers they match up against the Boston Celtics first game of that series uh going to be on Tuesday how do they match up with the Celtics who will not have Chris STS porzingis for the first two games at Eastern Conference going be um Pace who can control pace and I think you give a little bit of edge in his first game to the Indiana Pacers there’s no poror zingas and The Bigs of the Indiana Pacers have just went through Gauntlet of playing hard and being able to play basketball at a high level and now they get a chance to come right in not that much rest but they’re deep team people say they need some rest I mean but this team is not they don’t go 6 s deep they go 9 10 11 deep and so I think for them is they got to come in and also just try to hit the Boston Celtics in the mouth in that first quarter and come out and set the tone with their Pace it’s going to be interesting if the Boston Celtics are ready yeah they wouldn’t got Pascal seaka uh at the trade deadline 20 points in four of his last five games in this series and it really seemed as if as the series progressed he got better and also defensively when he brings to the table a guy you can throw on Jason Tatum at times or maybe Jaylen Brown seems like the perfect piece that they added oh it’s a perfect piece because um he’s a number one option or a number two option either way you look at on this team that doesn’t need the basketball and he doesn’t take away from other guys there’s not a lot of dribbles it’s one dribble finish it’s get out on a break and finish his offensive rebound Second Chance yes at times he take advantage of his size against smaller guys but he’s one of those guys that’s a nightmare of a matchup because he plays and moves well without the basketball defensively nine blocks seven steals for the Pacers in this game seven what does that tell you about what they were able to do on that side of the floor well they have uh three guys that get after that that Center Spot or you just say bigs now because his Turner is Jack in his top and all those guys play Above the Rim and Miles Turner has done an excellent job with being able to protect the rim but we begin with the West so here are the updated standings heading in to the final Sunday of the year stick with me here okay if it’s a three-way tie at the end all three teams winning OKC has a tie breaker if it’s a two-way tie at the top with OKC and Minnesota Minnesota gets a top seed if it’s a two-way tie with Minnesota and Denver Minnesota again getting the top seed if it finishes with a two-way tie and it’s OKC in Denver OKC taking number one I would love to see either OKC in Minnesota have that number one seed uh Denver you love to have it because any team have homec court throughout but I just think this young both young franchises are ahead of schedule it’ll be it’ll be great to see they can put their chest out and say we were the best in the west the Western Conference now looks like this New Orleans and Phoenix sitting at 6 and 7 so New Orleans doesn’t clitch six Fenix still has an opportunity sacker dropping to nine and on the final day of the regular season the Suns will take on the t-wolves the Lakers will take on the pels all of those exactly for all of those teams right there that’s what’s beautiful about this the play in is come down to we have meaningful games at the end of the season and and a lot of those teams in the play in they can jockey up or down it means a lot because you get home court or not and like you said uh that New Orleans Phoenix both those teams this is going to be good when you take a look at the East now Boston way ahead obviously but everywhere from 2 to 8 we could still see movement there the question of whether Giannis is going to play you know and be healthy enough U we know the Boston Celtics are where they are is scary teams though is Philly Joel and B who looks like he’s starting to get his rhythm back and maybe can have a run throughout this playoffs that’s a scary sight to see for some of these higher seeds seven straight wins for the Phil Philadelphia 76ers they have a better winning percentage when Maxi and NB play than the Boston Celtics smaller sample size but just show us what they can do a little drama 100% uh the New York Knicks speaking of drama any team playing the Knicks in these playoffs is going to have a tough time yeah they are I mean you know just unfortunately for him know Julius Randle he’s out so let’s look at the New York Knicks now they are still playing at a high level yes is Jaylen brunon div chenzo har but they got Mitchell Robinson back as well so that’ll give them some pop in the middle huge Sunday coming up at the NBA last day of the Season we probably have eight teams that can move and I’m talking about not just one slide up two down two it’s going to be good for e for First Blood an enemy has been defeated double kill an ally has been defeated your team has destroyed a tower this ultimate [Music] you have defeated an enemy an enemy has been defeated double kill Ace an ally has been defeated Onslaught shut down you you’re done for S around need a bit of help ultimate double 1. Anyone here using injuries as an excuse for a loss needs to go touch grass. Pacers played exactly the same amount of games and ran at that page all season long while managing to stay relatively healthy. Props to NYC for the fun banter, but put that stamp of respect on our name. None of this was an accident.

  2. Knicks were injured without a doubt. Too many key players sidelined. They were mentally exhausted and just gave up. They simply would have gotten their asses handed over to them. 130 / 105 lost every night. Knicks year a healthy Knicks team will advance further.

  3. Knicks did pretty good this year. Yes, they had some injuries. now they out playoffs summertime make some changes. next year improve better get out second round. second year. They cannot get out the second round. First Julius Randall yes he had a good year and yes, he was injured but if he was healthy, would he have done better help Bronson playoffs past experiences. does not do good playoffs. unless Brunson improved better double teams find ways get his shots double teams bigger than him. going to need back up. I feel like Julius Randall is not the right fit to help Brunson. They gonna need better superstar or player that is consistent. Next Mitchell Robinson injury prone if Knicks pursuing the championship, Mitch Robinson is not that person every 10 games he get injury prone. he’s a good defense player. He blocked shots, but if you’re trying to pursue a championship, Mr. Robinson not that person because. Knicks need to find a way to make changes and get rid of him. It other changes. Mitchell Robinson has been injury prone for a long time now long time and it’s never gonna change and every year he’s gonna get injured. He can’t survive 10 games.

  4. Bronson is now the guy on this team not Julius Randall so now it lies on Jalen Brunson that’s why I said the summertime the Knicks. Need to make some changes when it comes to Julius Randle and Mitchell Robinson specially Mitchell Robinson.

  5. I'm sick of hearing pour New York about their injuries. Please give some credit to the Pacers for what they done. Shooting 67 % from the floor and not layups. F!!k the media

  6. #BoomBaby 💪🏀💢🔥🔥🔥
Noone has thought we would get this far. They never wanna give credit, but we ain't tripping, not at all.
On to Boston, where we will win that series too 💯

  7. No one was beating the Pacers today. Led by Tyrese Haliburton's 26 points, the Pacers shot 67.1%, the highest field goal percentage in any playoff game in NBA history. With six players reaching double digits in scoring, Indiana became the first team to have five players with more than 15 points in a Game 7 since 1987. 🤔🤔🤔

  8. I believe that Boston can be beaten whether in conference finals or the NBA finals. No need to bring excuses about injuries it happens we should give respect to Pacers they deserve the credits for their run in these playoffs games.

  9. Lord 😮 Injuries are not excuses, it's a fact & because of the injuries the Knicks were short handed 🤔🧐 missing 3-4 of their starters.

  10. Brunson is a good player but not a team player, he failed to pass the ball many times and as a result caused the Knicks a trip to the finals.
