I feel like the reason players like Sabonis get DPOY and all defense votes is because some voters want to acknowledge improvements and the work they put in on that end. But that should probably be conveyed by writing a article or a column or something, not by giving them post season award votes

Last year I remember it was a big deal among Magic fans when a Jazz writer prevented Paolo from being a unanimous ROY by having Kessler 1st on his ballot. Would imagine this happens somewhat often if it isn’t very consequential, though the Sabonis 1st team all defense vote is the most random one I can recall.
